I'm with ya. I'm still scouring the city to find a good deal on a window unit. All the places I've visited or called are all sold out. I fucking drove out to the Issaquah Costco to find one, with no luck. I'm crossing my fingers I can find something reasonable at Sears tomorrow.

I have to laugh at myself since the funny part about all this Seattle heat is that I used to live in Spokane. I got used to the 100+ days of summer... then I moved over here. After so many years I have become pansified and now can't stand it above 90. It's just after 2am... my bedroom (Issaquah Highlands) is almost cool enough to sleep in now...

Spokane is a Dry Heat though. Makes quite a difference.

You know, everyone says that but it's not that big of a difference. We were over in Spokane a few weeks ago and it was 95 and it still felt pretty miserable. It was made quite bearable because we happened to be on a lake but still, it was hot.

Now, go to places where the humidity is actually quite high like parts of the east coast... holy crap, that is insane. I can hardly breath there, I can't imagine trying to sleep.

Its hot because no one has A/C in their homes here. Last year I think we only got one day over 90.

July-August temps in Israel vary a LOT from one place to another, where I live its around 35-37C but about 70-90% constant humidity, insane when you go outside and breath what feels like boiled water. Dead Sea is always around 40-45 but fairly dry.
I was unfortunate and stupid enough to ride there last year with a leather jacket that had no cooling...I started seeing things until I went back up in altitude to the much cooler Jerusalem. 😀

Yep, my buddy grew up in Lillooet and can confirm that it is consistently hot as balls there. It's frequently the hot spot in all of Canada. But 60 C is just nutz :shocked:

Closer to home, we're supposed to hit 31/39 tonight in Vancouver and I have to do a hard run tonight :sun:. It may hit 34 without the humidex by next Tuesday. Good lord, that is unheard of here.

House is down to 86 now with all the doors and windows open. Hope it drops another degree or two before I go to bed.

You should try ordering one online.... I ordered one a few years ago from... I think Home Depot... right in the middle of summer.

Also, have you tried Fry's? They usually have tons of them.

I've been in vegas when it was around 95... Sure it's hot but it was tolerable...
I've been near Seattle when its 85 and pretty humid and it sucked.

I was in Kansas City in 2000 when it was around 95, and humid as hell.. That shit sucked, I wanted to die. That night there was a thunderstorm, the humidity cleared out, and the rest of the week was 95+ and quite tolerable.

I had to drive out to Silverdale from Kent today. Two choices, drive my car with AC that has a failing fuel pump that makes my car drive like shit when it's hot, stuttering, etc... Or borrow my brothers car that drives just fine but has no AC...

I chose my car of course, risking breaking down and needing a tow...

Yeah it's been hot as hell here in BC recently. Got all the doors and windows open and a fan blowing on me right now and it's midnight. Course our house is worse than most. Our house is south facing with little in the way of shade. Also this is a 3 unit complex that's really well insulated. This place is like a hot box.

Having said this, this is nothing compared to the feeling back in Malaysia when we used to live there. 31+ deg every day with 100% humidity felt like being in a constant steam room. You do get used to it though.

Try living in California specifically Los Angeles area where 80* is hot and cold when it dips into the 50's.

80 is hot? For LA? Doesn't it get a crapload hotter there? My wife has family up from Bakersfield right now. I don't think it's been below 100 there for a while. At least they have AC, here only the $1mil+ houses up the hill have AC... though it's normally only needed for a few days a year.

The Urban Heat Island effect varies temperatures greatly.
