Local beach has a problem with geese crapping all over the place and that turns people off from the using the beach.

Other then killing them what is a good way to keep geese and ducks off your property?

The owl trick has been tried to no avail. Having dogs chase them off drew a blank also as they just come back when the dog is gone.

Call the DNR and see if they can help you? May help if you get more people to call also.

Rake a section of the beach for yourself, and enjoy the low crowds ;^)

I still go only I wear my sandals to the water edge then take them. Even after raking though there is unsanitary residue. Some people are really freaked out about this.

Then your kind of SOL.... even when the DNR has done something here in WI it has been to kill them and donate the meat to food pantries. You could call on your own and ask.

Firecrackers might work if they're legal in your area. Farmers use(or used to anyway) them on timers to keep birds out of crops.

The dog trick will work but it will take time. The dog needs to be run 3 to 4 times a day, every day. The idea is to annoy the geese so they stay away. A trained goose dog is expensive though.

If the geese are sleeping on the beach then check out a product called AwayWithGeese. The drawback with this product is it wont keep them away during the day light and it is expensive. http://www.awaywithgeese.com/awg2_web.nsf/catTease/AwayWithGeese~Products?opendocument

Shotgun shells are cheap.

I keep laughing at this pic. Thinking of a family going to the beach, and saying "oh look how nice it is now. They got rid of the geese". They then lay out the blankets, and umbrellas and proceed with their day. THEN the screaming starts... :^D
