Personal Experience:

I got one of these the last go around for $216/shipped. Probably one of my best-value tech purchases. 24" LCD without a single blemish or dead pixel, with super high-quality output. I don't know if $190 for a 24" is still as hot as it was last year, but I'm considering a second one. First was definitely a S-MVA panel - these may be too.

You take the chance with a Geek refurb (90-day warranty,) but it definitely worked out for me! You even get the DVI cable.

i just got a 23" 1080p lcd yesterday, but about refurbs...isnt there a pretty good chance that youre getting something with a stuck pixel or do they actually *do* something other than re-box that sort of thing?

I'm not sure. I assume most are from businesses that do a tech refresh, and they clean them up and box them - you may be left at the mercy of some tech jocky's respect for company equipment.

I can say, however, that there wasn't a single thing about my Soyo refurb that made think it wasn't anything else but 100% brand new. No scratches, not scuffs, not even any dust or smudges. I don't know if that is the norm or not, but I was happy.

I believe there were both MVA and TN versions of this panel. Early ones were MVA, but then the general consensus was they later switched to TNs. The viewing angles listed seem to indicate this is TN, unless they just used the wrong ones.

Not to steal your thread but there is also a refurb HP debranded 24" w/HDMI available for $229.99. The screen rotates on this one. Daddy likes.

I wish there was some way to tell if it's P-MVA or TN without looking at the specs on the physical box. I was fortunate to have gotten one pre-TN and the picture is beautiful, although the chassis is el-cheapo.

Yup. But I wouldn't be surprised if the vendor posted 6ms spec and shipped a 2ms unit. That's a very subtle difference. I haven't looked into it very deeply, but I think they otherwise look identical (box + model #).

fyi the one that ends with d6-r (one is out of stock) is listed at 179.99, when you click on it to expand the product its 169.99

IIRC this had no HDCP. So don't expect to play Blu-Ray on it.

I can't remember if it's the same model number I have, but I do have a Soyo 24" that I bought from officemax several months ago. I've connected my PS3 via a HDMI to DVI cable and can watch blurays on it.
