geeks.com sizzing sunday sale is on

hmmm pretty nice deals coming from geeks.com lately. i wonder how long their greenlight specials are gonna last. maybe its a desperate plea for customers
 
this doesnt seem quite as good as the last few weeks.

i noticed some of the prices are creeping up. like the toshiba 3.5" usb drive had been $17. now its $17.99. the motorola 802.11g bridge was $33 now its 34.99.

im wondering what that big clearance they are supposed to have soon will be like.
 
any thoughts on that video card for a windows HTPC? should i just wait for prices of Geforce6x or 9800+ level cards to come down... the fanless, with tv and dvi out is appealing. my 5200 has never worked right even after an RMA
 
I cancelled my order too after seeing the shipping costs on a couple CD cases and pair of small items. Didnt seem like much of a deal.

I ordered 6 items (2 video cards, MP3 player, 2 HD coolers, S754 heatsink) for $7 total shipping. 😀 $1.17 shipping per item is good.

I agree it's generally not worth it to buy one or 2 small items.

This is an awesome card for HTPC, so long it is 128 bit. you need the bandwith for HDTV. prolly as low-end as you wanna go. I have it (well, not this card, but a fanless 9600np 128-bit) and its great w/ the component adapter. it struggles with the T2 HDTV disc, but that is the fault of my OC'd 1.8ghz duron 🙂

same here, i mean everyone is so used to "free shipping". but geeks uses UPS and they charge what it costs them.

have you ever tried shipping something UPS or fedex. evenf or something under a pound its probably $6-7 regardless of what it is there is a minimum cost for UPS, not to mention packaging etc.

i used to have one and played halo 1 PC with it and it ran fairly well.


9600 NP is more or less the same chip as an x300 non se.
 
well, i bit, ill tell you what it is when i get it, im so sick of my 5200... constant reboots during overlay, video randomly goes flat green... and albatron just sent my original card back to me... grumble

USB2IDE-N -- USB 2.0 to IDE Adapter Cable for 10.99 (the same one that was in that thread for $15... that so many people had trouble with.... maybe i shouldnt have bought that... oh well it was cheaper than the earlier thread)

and a DMATT-FF-NB -- 38x35-Inch Playstation/PS2 Dance Mat w/Flaming Feet for 2.99

$37.99 here. I had four of these in my shopping cart but got cold feet at the thought of them being 64-bit SE versions. Geeks doesn't specify which and I couldn't find any more info on the part number. That is still a hot price on a Radeon 9600 SE 128MB but I already have several Radeon 9250 and 9550 in 128-bit that perform better than 9600SE 64-bit.

Be great for HTPC, though, unless low-profile is needed.
