Geeks.com order cancellation patterns

I'm just curious, has anyone here ordered from Geeks.com recently to then have part of the order cancelled due to lack of inventory and the rest of the order processed?

This has happened to me three times in the last month. I place an order for a few items, the order goes through, I get a confirmation email, then another email a short time later saying that some item was out of stock and they are taking it off the order and sending the rest. There is no offer of substitution or backorder date, they just cancel the missing stuff and ship the rest.

It is ALWAYS the best deal in the order, without fail.

The first time I didn't think much of it except that it seemed like poor customer service, but that's just par these days. However, this has since happened TWO more times. I'm starting to suspect a bait-and-switch scheme, but I would hope that's not the case. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience.

OK.

While admittedly, they aren't trying to upsell, I stand by the definition and I think that it fits.

Are they baiting you with a good deal then switching it for a bad deal?

Edit: The answer is no. You are buying the other items on your own accord.

That's true. I guess it's the fact that the change happen AFTER I've already checked out that bugs me.

If I'm assembling a system or something then I obvious NEED that piece, and now my money is tied up in CC refunds and charges and I'm not even getting what I ordered. So I have to wait three days for the charge back to go though and THEN I can replace whatever piece they stripped out. If I had money to burn I wouldn't care I guess, but I don't.

Sorry guys, jump down my throat all you want, but that's a pretty piss poor way to do business.

not bait and switch, but i'm sure it does kinda suck.

Speak with your wallet, shop somewhere else then.
