Geeks.com $10 club charge?

About a month ago my employer was looking to buy some smaller hard drives, so I suggested that they check out geeks.com. In the end we ended up buying fifteen hard drives and an external burner.

Going through our Visa statement today we discovered an extra $10 charge by Geeks.com for a "club" that we signed up for. Upon calling Geeks.com they said that we had agreed to being in this club and therefore agreed to the charge. We knew NOTHING about the club or the charge. They reversed the charge, but the idea that they would sneak this one through is alarming and has definitely lost them a customer in the future.

Just a heads up for those who buy there.

Neither had I. A few months ago I had purchased a box of Cat 5 from them and saw nothing unusual. Now we see this after a large purchase. I searched their site for details on this "club" and found nothing.

their facility are about a mile and half away from me. next time tell me what you would like and i will go in the store and buy it and ship it to you so you dont have to pay the $10 fee. but for my services to do that I will tack on a $9.99 fee.

when you complete your order , there is a link to this i think. you don't have to click on it

whoever placed the order was not paying attention

Knowing who ordered them, I'm having a hard time believing that he would click on that box, even by accident. He's real savvy about these things. It really bugs me, because I like shopping there sometimes.

after you complete your order , there is a button near the bottom that says

"Your purchase is complete. Click here to claim your $10.00 Cash Back Reward on your next purchase!"

if you click it you go to a "partner" web site where you can sign up for the club thing

it isn't sneaking it through, you have to click on it and read it and stuff

Yeah, I wasn't paying attention and clicked on the "Continue" button after my geeks order was places. Took me there also. I just cancelled it immediately and never had an issue otherwise.

Goddamn...$9 to ship a 50pk of DVD+Rs via ground? That's crap, and the price isn't that great anyways.
