I'm a comic book geek, and a huge fan of DC's animated movie series. Assault on Arkham just came out on Wednesday and I finally got a chance to watch it...WOW! It's based on the Batman: Arkham Asylum games and they just plain nailed it!

Speaking of nailed, I'm giving the movie an extra * for the Harley Quinn sex scene :awe:

Trailer, not the sex scene you pervs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN_jlZc6fzA

This one takes it up a few notches. It's a solid PG-13. Very gritty and raw. It actually has you cheering for the bad guys too, which is a twist.

Not only that, but they have a guy doing The Joker that's a dead ringer for Mark Hamill. This made it all correct in my mind :)

If you've ever played Rocksteady's Batman games, you'll notice the backgrounds, the takedown moves, the detective mode cowl, and a bunch of other references to the games. VERY well done.

so the guy doing joker is still good. after mark hamill playing him for so long i was kinda hesitant to watch another one.

I'm generally not a huge cartoon guy, but Batman: Year One could very well be the best Batman movie I've seen. Was shocked by how good it was.

Most of the recent JL based movies have been pretty good - JL War was an interesting watch as was this movie. Though honestly - Cpt Boomerang, can he be any more lame?

ok, saw it.
great till the plot twist

why did amada need to kill the riddler? wouldn't it be easier just to re-design the kill chip in their necks instead of breaking into Arkham?!

Where's the fun in that?

Despite being called a Batman movie, there's very little Batman in this movie. It's basically a Suicide Squad movie crossed with Arkham Assylum. And even that's a stretch since it's not really Arkham Assylum except for a few nods. So what you're left with is a Suicide Squad movie with a Batman cameo, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I still find myself flabbergasted at profanity in any animated DC project though. It just feels so wrong for Joker to be cursing.:p

He's not Hamill, but I'll give him credit: he's close.

Not to mention a Harley Quinn sex scene, and a lot of the flat out murder and blood. It was very raw and as close to a real comic book movie as I've seen.

Heck, I'm still annoyed by what they've done to Quinn's character design over the years. It's all rather blatant fan service.

I haven't seen War or this, but Crisis on Two Earths and Doom were both good. James Woods as a (more) evil alternate Batman was fun, and Bats was not very nice himself.

I'll also recommend Batman - The Brave and the Bold again if you don't mind your Batman less serious, and can enjoy the silly 70s vibe. Plus Kirby heroes like Kamandi and OMAC show up now and then.
