When using ATI Tools' Show 3d View I notices a spike in temp. Thought " Oh the Pelt will kick in and I'll see the temp level off" Was actually looking forward to that.

Read somewhere their spose to cap at 70c...Well mine coocked right past 70 then 80 and finally started to level at 100c according to ATI tool temps. Being from the states it took me a sec to realize 100c = 212f...boiling point.

In games and benches it has not passed 81c.

So I am wondering if I got a bad HSF/Peltier and if i should RMA it?

Otherwise, this card is amazing!

Doubled all my 3dmark scores from my x1600pro, and I can play Oblivion at max settings 1280x1024.

Anyone else buy this thing? If so, tell me what your temps avg.

Welcome to the 100*C club!

Sorry I couldnt be more helpful.

OK, odd...With fan override set to 100% when I run 3d view the fans spin down, then the fans on the card spin up after I cose 3d view and drop the temp down in a matter of seconds.

Mayby my PSU isn't giving enough juice to the pelt...

Whoa..hold on there buddy.
You are using a pelt?
What psu are you using?
Peltier need a lot of power; so much in fact that many people recommend using a second psu just for one pelt.

hi aeros, i'm a week or so behind you...just googling to find anything on this card that i have had for a few days now. i assume that you are using ati tool ver. 27 beta? i think this the only version that enables fan control? on mine anyway. my card was getting extemely hot! i adjusted the fan control to compensate, but realised after a while (duh!) that ati tool was resetting the fans to 4% > twenty something max!! do not seem to be able to do anything except 100% and i didn't want to do that..how are you getting on now? i have reverted to ver. 26, but i am working blind. also, i am unsure how to configure the x1000 overclock page. any pointers (anybody)?
it seems to me that if you are using the 3d recognition setting, then you don't want any automatic ati 3d clock settings ...but i'm willing to hear from anyone who knows what they're doing!!!!!

Yeah, it runs quite hot, mines reached 90C max, and was unstable when I was using the PCI-E to Molex Splitter, I used a PCI-E Power Connector and a Molex connector to connect the fan and the issues are gone, but the card still exceeding the 80C threshold in gaming, and also the ATi Tray Tool Temp Monitoring Utility doesn't work when you select it on the OSD, yes, indeed is fast.

I received the replacement today, and now it reaches 70C max, with the original card it used to went up to 90C and then locked up the PC, now works great. :)
