Gears of War Judgement

I just watched the reveal on the dashboard, and I am pumped for this game. It sounds like they are getting back to what made the original so awesome with the mood and intensity. Hurry up March 19th.

this will be the first gears i'm not going to buy. ill grab the game from redbox though to play campaign mode.

This style of game is getting seriously played out to me. It was ground-breaking and incredible in 2006...but since the roughly 75+ games since that have emulated the third-person, over-the-shoulder, contextual cover-taking since, even Gears is getting stale.

I'll wait until its in the bargain bin.

More knee high cover, more waves of enemies that take 6 magazines to kill, rinse repeat for 4 hours until you beat the game, watch 13 second ending sequence.

Don't get why people are so into these mindless games. At least when you see a XVMCIII after a Final Fantasy type title you know its a COMPLETELY new game.

I get the appeal as a "quarter muncher" coop arcade cabinet style game with your friends Friday night but that doesnt take 4 versions of the game.

PS I have GoW 1 and 2 so I'm not just talking out my ass and bashing shooters.

I guess I'm not tired of this style of game because I couldn't get into the knock offs like spec ops and vanquish. They never did it as good as gears. That and I have a friend that always plays the game coop and multiplayer with me.

We pre-ordered it. We get our moneys worth from every GoW. They added decision making to this one, that ostensibly influences how missions play out. We'll see. They also made a couple of nice additions to the MP weapons and play style. And Horde is always fun too. I also like the executions in 3, and some of them are hard to get tired of. Ground and pound till you put your fist through their face FTW.

Plus the second campaign you unlock after beating the regular one. I agree with you, I get so much out of my $60 when it comes to gears.

I've bought all 3 at launch and played the crap out of them, but probably not this one. Too many other games to play right now and I just built a new PC.

Those are pretty good reasons to skip it for now, but I will buy it because I know I will get more play time out of it then most of the games I am getting this month (The Show, Tomb Raider, and Bioshock being the others).

Turn another corner, enter another door, another big open room ahead with waist high barriers and crates, oh I have no idea what could possibly happen next.... Oh how I wonder what will happen if I keep walking forward...

that you will post in another thread about games that you don't like just to let everyone know you don't like them?

You can do the same generalization for all games, including your precious JRPG's. Walk 5 feet, random enconter, attack attack, defend, heal. The difference is I don't spend my time in threads about games I have no interest in.

Haha.

Seriously... you don't like the game, got it.

Personally I have it pre-ordered. Beat the first 3 and had plenty of fun. $60 every once in a while won't hurt me. In fact this is the first out of the series I spent over $30 on.

I don't have it preordered because the nearest game stop/best buy is an hour away and I don't want to take the day off because my son is having surgery later that week and I will be missing a couple days for it, but I will be going to the local walmart on my lunch break and grabbing it. It may be difficult to make it to the gym that night, haha.

Nah, should only take 45 mins to complete it 😛

I think I might even do the VIP pass on Gears 3. It's one of the games I will actually continue to play the online on, and the idea of permanent double XP in the VIP playlist sounds pretty cool.

Gears 3 was one of only like 3 games I paid full price for this generation, and it was worth it to me. I found there was a ton of value in it and put a lot of time into the game. I ended up buying that season pass of which I got almost 0 out of because I had moved on to other games..so I'm def done with season passes for games.

I will definitely play this at some point, just not right away.

I hear the gnasher is going to be even more powerful. they might as well just dump every other gun from multiplayer

Gears has proven to me that you can get too much of a good thing. I loved 1 & 2 but couldn't even really get into 3. They were all too similar for me.

I was coming here to post that too, I loved the first 2 gears but this last one bored me to death. Sure it was more of the same and that might have been the problem. I never played gow online, only played the SP and enjoyed it but this last one sucked. Will probably not pick up this one unless people praise it.

Not every JRPG is random encounter.

And fighting is a small portion of a much more vast game.

A JRPG styled after gears would be 6 hour long coridoor with set encounters every other step....and...and... that's it., the entire game. In other words like Final Fail XIII.

I don't mind an action game. I love ninja gaiden, metal gear rising, and god of war. All except a few of those really have no story anyway...kind of expected really.

Gears though...just doesn't quite hit me in the way halo does or even crysis or killzone. I don't exactly know how to describe it. Not for me I guess. Gave them all a play through but I had to force myself to keep going.

I can respect if it isn't someones thing, we all have different taste. For me, I get way more play time out of a gears then I do for almost any other game.
