The big problem with Gears of War is no dedicated servers. You have to sign up to Games for Windows Live just to host your own online games. That's the lamest thing I've seen in multiplayer in more than a decade. Microsoft is taking PC gaming backwards.

wtf :Q:Q:Q

someone better hack that crap ASAP. GFWLives or wtf it's called seriously just dropped to rock bottom. It was barely above, but now it's just a sham. One of the greatest things about PC gaming is the ability to host a (non) dedicated server, assuming you have enough bandwidth. WTF MS... WTF.....

edit: i'm still going to pick up the game for $40. certainly glad i'm not paying $60.

Good job i picked this up mainly for a co-op romp and a quick blast over with friends. Seriously though this move from MS is a bad one, more respect lost for them, if they have any left that is.

I just hope they don't get their hands on real PC game deals and dick up gaming even further.

IDK anything about games for windows live. Will one have to pay for Live to play online at all(including co-op)?

So what are the implication of this? I need to pay for Windows Live in order to play multiplayer?

Is there a difference betwen regular multiplayer and co-op?

Well I can't get the game itself to run.
I can load up the editor though and launch the game levels through it.
Single player crashed with an error in the NT kernel.

Drivers, etc make no difference.
Only game right now that I cannot run, expect epic will address it soon enough.

I got it for the mod making anyway.
Played the single player on the 360.

Multi on it is dead as far as I am concerned.
Stupid MS Live BS. Hope it dies an early death.
Not everyone wants to login to MS to play a game.

bah, none of the places near me have it for $40.. guess i will order from CC online 🙁

places closest by won't pricematch (ebgames and gamestop, d'oh!)

Everything set to max at 1600x1200 on an 8800GTS, and the frames are very high - never goes below 40 fps.

I don't care for the game itself though. Drab levels, goofy characters, boring 'empty an entire clip into a grub's face and he keeps running' gameplay, the king of drabness.

so none of my circuit cities say they have had any shipments come in and online on CC website it says coming soon??

Just got it for 360 I am just wondering if its worth reselling and buying for PC since PC looks better and has more content also the fact I can use KB/Mouse. Of course 360 Live will probably always have more ppl playing.

I picked it up today at Circuit City. They only had 4 copies for the entire store and I was lucky enough to get one right when they got them.

Seems to be a common thing. I'm in the same boat and have seen several other posts around the web where people get crashes in the menus.

Is this with Vista or XP?

I'm amazed that people are actually buying this game, considering how crippled the multiplayer is (if you want to keep it free).

in stock at CC online

grrrr i might as well pick it up at the nearest B&M for $50. CC free shipping estimated it'd arrive 11/14-29 despite the fact that they have a store only a few miles away (no car for me though 🙁) Add 3.99 for decent shipping and it's not really worth saving $5 + tax on 50.

gamestop here i come.. it better be in stock!

Target and walmart have plenty of copies.

While I think not having dedicated servers is FUBAR, half of gamers don't play online.
