Too early to tell as I am still getting used to playing this type of game on a console. I have been playing games on the PC since the PC was born and while I have 18 consoles I never played these type of games on a console, so for me its a steep learning curve. Add to the fact that my 360 is hooked up to my PC monitor and therefore I play right next to my trackball and KB I have this natural tendency to reach for them when I play GoW! :)

I sucked at it too, but this might be the only game where I ever got my ass totally kicked and still loved it. I held onto the 360 rental for as long as I could stand it.
Makes me seriously want to buy the Windows version.

Same with Overlord.
Ass handed to me.
Lots of fun anyway.
Will buy copy for PC.

i disagree. for one, the cover system is a bit annoying because A does everything in the damn game. this better be modified for the PC version, as i prefer having discrete buttons most of the time. secondly, i've played half-life "the specialists" mod 3rd person using mouse and keyboard. the game is 100000000000000x faster than gears, and i did just fine. given the slower pace of gears, i have no doubt that it will control just fine (if not better) with kbm.

And I agree with you guys that if it's not Vista or bug-ridden then I'll be picking it up at release.

I'd figure by the time most games will require only Vista, Vista will have SP1 out or DX10 will be a little better tuned.

Vista32 is fine, DX10 is fine ... i benchmarked Vista against XP with both my HD2900xt and a 8800GTS-640M OC and frankly i prefer Vista

Gears of War PC confirmed at Microsoft press e3 07 conference. Cliff B was playing it live on stage.

5 new chapters which pretty much double the game length with more plot revealed.
Windows XP and Vista live anywhere
Graphic full blown and looks much better than 360 version
DX10
New bosses
Keyboard and mouse support
New multiplayer modes and maps

Now you guys with a 8800/2900 can enjoy a game that really show why 8800/2900 is awesome. Probably one of the best looking game on pc this year that is if crysis does come out this year.

The only reason this game would suck with keyboard and mouse is because of a bad port. 3rd Person FPS games began their existence on the PC and have always worked fine with keyboard and mouse. The ones that haven't have been bad ports, Capcom, bless their soul, loves to port their games to PC but hates to put an ounce of work into it. Now, this is Epic, a PC developer at heart, and no reason they can't figure out how to port a game to PC properly, if so the controls with KBM will be 10x better than with a controller.

I will definitely get this one when it comes it.

I really do hope it's possible to play through the campaign co-op online wit X-Box 360 players. That would rock.

From the E3 confrence demo.

It's worth noting that Bleszinski played the brief demo with an Xbox 360 controller and thus employed techniques that should be familiar to veterans of the original game. (No comment on mouse-and-keyboard support was made.

Does not mean it will not be there, just has not been talk of it yet

AND

However, Cliffy mentioned that the game would run on Windows XP as well as Windows Vista, which made us wonder if the game will support DirectX 10.

Again does not mean it will not have DX10 support. Nothing is official yet

That'd kick ass. I'd be able to play with my brother without going into his small apartment! :D

I've seen magazine review shots of games with DX10 and without, so I'm assuming at this point that some are in the production line that can use either 9 or 10 from the same install depending on the users actual hardware.

GoW isn't likely to be a "crappy port", as it uses UE3, the same engine in countless other future PC titles, not to mention multi-platform titles like UT3, which will be out on PC, PS3, & 360.

Keep in mind UE3 isn't natively DX10 either, so depending on developer choices, engine can run DX9 or DX10.

I've known for a long time GoW could be released for PC, it was just a matter of if or when.
Someone i know who knows a guy working at Bioware has had GoW running on PC since this spring at least now...

I look forward to GoW on PC :D
