Link - So sez Mr. Cliff Blezenski

Does this mean you are planning a Windows version of "Gears of War 2"?

Cliff: Gears of War is a great franchise first and foremost for Xbox 360, and therefore we're focusing on that platform for Gears of War 2. We've decided we're not going to do a PC version this time around.

about Carmine:

You also revealed the mystery behind the return of Carmine. Speculation ranged from "he was cloned!" to "he wasn't really dead!" but now you revealed in "Gears of War 2" that Carmine is in fact his brother, Benjamin. How many brothers does Carmine have? Will we see "Charlie Carmine" up next (A, B, C?)?

Cliff: That's an interesting idea! To be honest I was surprised that players thought we'd clone Carmine or that we'd somehow claim that the bullet through the head didn't kill him; the answer always seemed so obvious to us that it's his brother. Benjamin Carmine is just as green and gung-ho as his brother, in fact, he's even a bit more excitable. Ben has some great lines and moments in Gears 2. His family is a military family and it remains to be revealed exactly how large his clan is.

That's potentially alot of Carmines!

Of course they aren't going to admit to a PC version. They don't want to lose any sales to the 360 version. After the fiasco over the first one with the Bamuk fight 360 gamers were crying bloody murder. If they knew that the second one was coming to the PC as well a lot of them would just wait hoping for extra exclusive content for the PC version again.

What part of "We're not going to do a PC version this time around" do you not understand?

He saying they're not gonna make GoW2 for PC now, but he's gonna eat his own words down the line when MS tells him to make a PC version.

Did people really care what happened to Carmine? When he got sniped I just looked at it as a character that wasn't really important dying.

In the first video of GoW2 video that was released, people were saying, "Hey look! It's Carmine!"

It's more of a funny sidestory...kind of like a SpinalTap drummer or Kenny from South Park.

Link/proof?

Text (dated 5 / 26 / 05)

CEO of Epic Games Mark Rein has told BeyondUnreal.com that Gears of War will be an "XBox 360 exclusive"

This is also the same company that stated Unreal Engine 4 would be a console exclusive, only to "clarify" the statement later to say that it will for consoles and PCs.

My sixth sense tells me itll be out on PC a few months after release like virtually every other 360 game. Theres no reason to believe anything publicly stated like that, because those kind of statements have been proven to be wrong time after time.

The first one had a horrific lag time for it's PC release. Well over a year I believe.

They said that for the first one also. In fact they say that for lots of 360 games and then port them later while calling them exclusive before to fool people. A PC version will obviously follow it at some point.

Yeah, but as long as epic and MS still like money, theyll release it eventually. I completely get where theyre coming from - its so ridiculously easy to pirate on the PC that any company that releases their AAA games on the PC alongside the consoles is flushing money down the toilet. They absolutely need to keep up the fascade that itll never come out on the PC so they dont give people the chance to think that they can wait a few months and get it for free on PC.
