I have one of those limelite nightlights around the house that i bought on sale awhile ago. Anyways I went to try to use it and found that the connection inside to the prongs on the plug is loose so it doesn?t work. Unfortunately I no longer have the receipt and its to late to take it back to the store i got it from. So I am wondering if maybe this would make a good candidate for incorporating into a computer mod if I can get the thing apart that is. I'm thinking of just using the actual light part itself and putting in a spare hd bay. I'm wondering what kind of voltage it would take and how I could go about hooking it up to power. If the light part isn?t low voltage though I don?t even want to attempt anything with it.
Anyways I thought it would be worth mentioning.

I bought two, one to use and one to operate on. I don't know what brand I bought, it was about $5.00. It came apart easily by running a razor along where the plastic was joined. The AC power prongs were attached directly to a very thin sheet of sheet of plastic-like material. I seems to me the process is similar to a tubular florescent lamp, where the external coating fluoresces as photons are emitted by excited electrons and strike the coating. I doubt that 12vdc would make it glow.

It's more high tech than "my computer doesn't boot". However, I do think this is more appropriate for the cases section -- maybe someone over there has already tried it!
