Once again, are you 100% sure? I think that they are worried that their kids will grow up thinking that it is ok to be gay, when their belief is that it is wrong. They don't want to kill gays, and will let gays be gays, but they don't want an ad to influence the people around them. Also, the tobacco companies didn't get their billboards shut down because kids were choosing a certain brand, but because they were smoking. It promoted smoking, gay billboards promote gayness.

Civil rights protests promoted equality. I'm sure plenty of people didn't want their kids to believe in that kind of thing. Sometimes people are wrong.
