what about a temporary pill that would switch you orientation either way? that would be more interesting. i doubt many heteros would try it.
Might be a few getting slipped to women unsuspectingly, though.

I wonder if only gay people voted. It's an interesting result if so, kinda split.

In much the same way I can't even begin to understand how any man could be attracted to a woman... or even think about going near a woman's "stuff"... just.... :vomit;

I can't understand how anyone can eat canned peas. It doesn't affect me if they do though, and I don't see how it could/should affect my judgement of them. I've got to wonder if people so adamantly against homosexuality are as such because they're hiding something...

I have to agree, vaginas just seem so... unappealing.
(apologies to any ladies present)

No... unappealing is the undercooked dinner you're served at a fast food restaurant.
I find them disgusting, and I'm not sure that's a strong enough word.
But that's just my perspective.

Quit picking on rbloedow, people... it's not as though he's the only nef around here. He's not even the only gay nef, by far...
Given the change to take a pill -- today -- to change myself from being a homosexual to a heterosexual, I would do it in a heartbeat. I wouldn't be an outcast, wouldn't have to put up with bullshit rules from the FDA, Red Cross, and many private organizations - not to mention the government, and I'm not even going to mention how angered I am about gay marriage.
That said; if I were in a (homosexual) realtionship and loved my partner, and was given the opportunity to take said pill, there's no way I would take it. I guess it's just my own opinion (weird, as most of mine are, it seems), but I feel as though if I've managed to find a partner, and we both love each other, then the world's issues about homosexuality take a back seat to that (they're still there, and I'd still have to battle them, daily, but would be 'easier' for me).
I don't feel like arguing enough to try to change someone's mind - but I don't understand the people that say homosexuality is a choice - how the heck would they know, anyway - last I checked almost all of the people that claim it is a choice is heterosexual, and has never been homosexual. I know, there are also homosexuals that claim it is a choice, and just prefer being gay - I don't understand that either... why live in a world that thinks you are inferior to everyone else (well, all heterosexuals)? I've tried 'becoming' a heterosexual before. I've tried praying about it, I've tried watching hetero porn, I've tried talking to counselors about it, pastors, etc. Nothing worked. Now, I guess I've accepted the fact that I'm gay, and I no longer actively try to change that part about myself - it's who I am, and I don't feel like hurting myself or going through any more pain just trying to change to something that the world perceives as better, when I personally don't view heterosexuality as any better than homosexuality.

I used to think that way, but it occurred to me it was a kind of sexist attitude.. and I'm sure women don't like hearing their vaginas being described as disgusting![]()

If I was gay, I would take the pill. Even if it was $1000 which it would inevitably be.
I mean please, men are nasty, vial and despicable creatures. Women represent everything that is beautiful in this world we live in. Of course, its been my experience that most of that beauty shines on the outside, and not on the inside - you just have to look harder to get both.
Unless I was female, and were a lesbian, then of course I wouldn't take the pill.
whoa can we say ignorant?
So what exactly about the post makes me so ignorant. Are you saying that men, generically speaking, are the better looking of the two genders or something? If you beleive in god, its obvious to everyone else that does that god is a man. Theres also a reason why you never see men angels, even if the bible talks about them. Angels are women.
Not a single strait person would ever argue with me, so its obvious that your gay. Why do you think women find other women attractive. All women have bi-sexual tendancies, whether they admit them or not.

Nah... I think that sexist would be if you were to say that all women were ugly... or all women are incompetent, etc... something very broad and about women in general. Having an opinion about their sexual organs doesn't make me sexist... or at least I don't think so. But I could be wrong. lol

 No surprise that most of the common sense in this thread is coming from gay people.
If there was a button I could press that would instantly remove all social angst and misunderstanding assosciated with homosexuality, I'd probably press the hell out of it. People would still be able to form opinions on their own - but society itself would be inherently neutral.
I'm heterosexual, but I'm not quite so ignorant as to let my lifestyle interfere with common sense. Our brains are very robust instruments. They account entirely for the perception of a "self". They also have settings, and some of these settings are set at birth inside the womb, some are set right at the moment of conception. Of course many settings are set during your lifetime, but homosexuality and heterosexuality is not one of them. I am positive this is a setting that is programmed at birth, and it may just be latent until it is expressed by the person when they are old enough to identify themselves as a sexual being (whenever that happens is up to them). You can think of these settings much like jumpers (DIP switches) on a motherboard. The brain, however, has hundreds of billions of these switches. Please don't lose me here... I am not trying to say the brain is as simple as DIP switches, it's so much more complicated than that. Societal influence comes into play on these switches like a 3 year old jabbing at keys on a keyboard.
As another poster already pointed out... in the early ages, women were not considered for their beauty. In fact, a woman was only considered socially acceptable if she was plump and shapeless. Men, on the other hand, were often sculptured (with words or otherwise) as being powerful, attractive figures. Women considered socially attractive today, would have been horribly mishapen and unappealing in early ages - too skinny, feeble, and if you have a tan? Forget about it.
I can certainly look at another man and think, "wow, he's hot", but would I have sex with him? Certainly not, it just wouldn't be sexually appealing to me. I can, however, recognize the attractiveness in a man. Would I take a pill that would make me homosexual? No, because I am already in a relationship with a woman I love, and I fear my chances with gay men would be even less than my chances with women. It also severely limits the size of the buffet to choose from.
