Nay. I don't think kids should have to go through life knowing their parents were gay.

better to have nurturing environment than going through life in an orphanage knowing they were abandoned and no one wants them...

It's a nurturing environment until they blow their brains out because all the kids at school made fun of them.

as opposed to living in an orphanage all their lives...we all know how great that is for their pysche...

From what you're saying there's two ways this could go: be adopted by gay parents or live in an orphanage. There are some people who are still into the male and female marriage thing you know
rolleye.gif

Well would you rather live a life w/o parents or one with parents?

Yay. I think the modern day definition of a family is something like "a group of people that love other", not one mommy/one daddy/2.4 kids. When I was in grade school I only had one friend whose parents were divorced, but about half of my daughters friends come from parents who don't live together anymore. I think kid's should be able to live with any loving, nurturing family unit.

As long as the 2 parents can provide the love and care that a child needs, let them be parents!

Thank you!

all i meant was in the even they had to choose between living in an orphanage all their life comtemplating watever happened to their real parents as opposed to being matched with nurturing new parent figures, be it straight or watever... wouldnt it be worth it

If I grew up with it? I'd feel fine.

How is it much different than being a child in an interracial marriage?

The only people who feel that way about it, still think being gay is a horrible thing.

i personally see nothing wrong with gay people adopting a child. the part i do see a problem with is what happens when other kids find out you have gay parents. kids can be quite cruel and i don't think it'll be good for kids to be raised in such a negative enviornment. i think you have to take into consideration not what just makes you happy but what will also be best for the kid. i think that gay or straight that is what makes a good parent.

imagine this:

you're a kid in an orphanage, and the only people that will take you into custody are 2 lesbians, would you rather spend 18 more years of your life living by yourself, or grow up normally, attend a regular public school, highschool, college ETC?

What would be better for the kid? Living a life of poverty, or living the life of a more fortunate, regular, kid?

Do you really feel sorry for them? Personaly i think she can probably love them better then an orphanage can, atleast she will give them great oppertunites to go to college unlike many other children...so do you really think its that bad that the kids have lesbian parents then no parents at all? How in-humane can you be.

I can see it now.

Elton John: "Gee, thanks for mentioning me in that...... interesting manner, Rosie...." :D

Anyways, I gotta vote "nay" to this one.

It's not that I have anything against homosexuals. Except for Lord Maul.

But that kid will be in for hell when his schoolmates find out that "John has two daddies." If it wasn't for the fact that the kid's first quarter of his life might be very hard, I'd be all for it.

Nay. Unfortunately, I am very very very stubborn and hold my beliefs until someone disproves it outright. Out of the gay people I've encountered in high school, trust me, you would vote nay also. There aren't many gay people in Orange County so that doesn't help either... Until I find a gay person who I can find reasonable and cool enough to me, I will have to vote nay. Not saying all gay people are like this... but until I meet one that changes my mind....

In LW4, Bruce Willis was required by the film's antagonist to stand naked on a street corner in Harlem wearing a sandwich board that said "I hate awesome people"

just a quick reference to see if anyone would pick it up. I guess it's not all that funny :-\

It especially wasn't funny because it wasn't Lethal Weapon 4, it was Die Hard: With A Vengence.

Nobody got it because the movie was Die Hard 3, not Lethal Weapon 4. I'm glad you clarified it, I couldn't figure out what I was missing...

Hell i know if i was growing up and i knew someone had gay parents, i wouldn't be the first to rip on them, but i wouldnt be the last.

Sounds like the exact same reason some folks are against interracial marriage.

It's a stupid reason for both. If the reasoning is fear of ridicule, the problem lies not with the adoptive parents, but with the parents of the other kids.
