One of my CompSci professors wrote all of his test so that the grades would come out as a bell curve centered about 50%. Usually the results were spot on. People would leave the exam feeling so bad about themselves because they knew that they failed (read got a 50%-60%) then were shocked when that turned out to be a solid B.

I loved that class.
 
Well, at least you didn't fail my test as I haven't given them back yet. Speaking of which, I really should start grading them. :-/
