building an itinerary right now, and the computer shows any trip involving layover in england as arriving in Heathrow and leaving Gatwick... and these things are 2 hrs apart.

Is that a common transfer? Theyre probably not far apart, but between re-checking in and going through security and everything, sounds like a big PITA

There is a Coach service between them, but it uses the M25. At peak times that road is a car park so you should leave at least two hours, yeah. At best it could take 40 mins.

You cannot take the tube to Gatwick...ffs.

You could always try:
Heathrow Express from Heathrow to Paddington.
Tube from Paddington to Victoria.
Train from Victoria to Gatwick.

Unless the M25 is very busy that would probably take longer with the changes though.

Yeppers... did it years ago as we had to go to LGW and then to LHR to fly Iberia. The bus works well, but traffic can get you. Ticket is reasonable though and taking the coach means that you are not moving your luggage in all the stations. NOT that there is anything wrong with that as we did LGW, tube to train station to catch a train to Edinburgh. It works, just would suck at rush hour.
