What a visionary film!

It screamed being a novel first... the elitist valids sitting in front of their stations and constantly typing away... seems like a perfect novel adaptation to me...

Well, was it?
 
I thought it was a great film. I recommended it to a friend but she wasn't smart enough to understand it 🙁 Her loss.

Having read it (along with hundreds of other SF novels), not really.

Equilibrium was a cross between Brave New World, 1984, and John Woo HK films, but Gattaca was a movie all its own. It really did have the depth of a good SF novel which is probably why it wasn't a blockbuster.
 
Not bad, did a HD cap to my PC. Just realized that the letters GATC in title of movie, are related to the genetic code letters.

no first four letters would be GATT, unless you pick random sequence of letters from the title, it doesn't work. I think you're looking too much into it.

She was a lot younger too.

But i agree, awesome movie. I had absolutely NO Idea what the movie was about going into the movie, and it surprised me how good it was. Definitely one of my favs.

It does seem kind of similar.

I'd like to see a new BNW movie. I've heard that the old one is pretty bad.
 
They wanted a title that could be spelled entirely from G,A,T, and C... hence the name.

Edit: Adenine, Guanine, Thymine, Cytosine.
