Gateways entry into amd64 Notebooks

I have 2 agree those are the same specs of the 68xx series now... They just changed the name on it from E to gateway...

What is really amazing is the price. These are basically last spring's technology (the M6805/M6807) being renamed and resold for slightly more money almost a year later. The low end model actually has ATi integrated graphics in place of a dedicated 9600 graphics part for $1249. No wonder Gateway is losing money and customers.

On the other hand, it just reinforces my satisfaction that purchasing an M6805 for $1299 after rebates last year was a damn good deal at the time. There are much better values today than these so called "new" models from Gateway.

I guess the gateway model has a better screen, redesigned screen hinge, and a fast internal DVD RW drive. Something my emachines doesn't. So I guess the price isn't too bad as long as you don't get IGP.
