Your link is missing an e it says Gatway instead of Gateway besides I don't see the Solo 1400 listed anywhere on their website, just the 1450.

Can you provide a direct link to the Solo 1400?

I can't seem to find much for specs on this (other than the obvious things right off of Gateway.com) I am wondering if this laptop has any kind of video out...

(and the other usual discount laptop questions; is this battery decent, and will it run for a while on this battery, and does it get too hot in your lap etc. )

est. shipping is $49.00

<< Am I missing something, i thoguth this would be a pretty nice deal... >>

Yeah, I thought 512mb dimm pc 133 from Crucial for $150 would be a hot deal , too. Go figure.

*confused* is this a 14.1TFT or a 12.1TFT? If you look at the dimensions listed further down, it says:

12.6inch x 10.4inch x 1.6inch (W x D x H), approximate weight 6.18lb.

Now, I don't know how a 14" screen can be fit into a size like that. 🙂 I wonder if the Dimensions are wrong or the screen size listed is wrong, I am going to assume the dimensions though.

Pretty hot deal - I'd jump on it if I needed one atm 🙂

The 14.1" is diagonal.

dang...i wish i got in on those numerous laptop deals. but now i need one quick. you guys think dell will come out w/ more promotions anytime soon? if not i might jump on this...

Same here RossMan, I thought this would be a Hot Deal, especially after the $799 OfficeDepot Toshiba Deal..that went like Hotcakes...

Oh well, a lot of laptop deals lately, so that may be the case...

I know this isn't a top of the line Dell or Toshiba nor a bargain Compaq or a sleek Sony but it's a decent laptop for a great price with no rebate hassles.

Oh well. Gateway sucks regardless 😀

I love gateway laptops. I put together one from parts off of ebay. Solo 9300, 15" screen, dvd, cely 450mhz, 20 gig for $500. Works like a charm

Well, the Toshiba deal at $699 was better since it had much better specs. However, this is an ok deal, but shipping is around $50 + tax and it adds up 🙁 If that Toshiba was purchased from BB, all that was needed to be paid for most people was the tax, so it was a very good deal, but have to pay shipping from gateway.

I also would think this is a pretty good deal, and unit is plenty good enough for most people to do WORK on. But therein lies the heatsink in this otherwise hot deal--it isn't good enough to PLAY on! :Q

This Gateway beats the 2 1/2 year old Inspiron 8100 I'm typing on right now hands down for a fraction of the original price. But, alas, it has no 64MB Radeon or GeForce4 or integrated rechargeable toothbrush/clothes steamer!

Still a good post--surely SOMEBODY needs a workhorse notebook--right, Somebody?
