spyboy, I'm with you....266MHZ 128 meg RAM....can't wait to get this thing. Problem is it looks like its going to get here on V-Day. Looks like I may be setting it up in between spending the day with my sweetheart......:frown: this is not good!

That's not a good deal, a good deal is what they had in December...dual 933 XEON compaq pro desktop with 512 RAM and a 18 gig Ultra 160 drive and NT and @k, now thats a good deal!
Peace

<< Saw this through fw:

Take the system to the bare minimums (no monitor, no speakers) to get 969 price

Linky

There's $100 coupon floating around (check fw) and shipping is $49.

So: 969 - 100 + 49 = 918 shipped (+taxes?)
>>

I don't see how you guys are getting down to $918. I took it down with no mon and speakers and still get >$1300.

How much mem and hard drive space are you choosing?

Is $100 coupon still around?

TIA

So far it does come up.

Anyone know if this video card is 4X AGP?

Also, will the Gateway store honor this?

amgine - So good of a deal you posted it twice

.

DaveR - A Geforce MX 400 with 64mb of RAM at 2x....why would NVIDIA do that?

I just have not seen the specs yet on that card...could not find them.

Yesterday i posted i went for this deal on Sun and there still was no pending charge so i call my cc company and talked to a csr and indeed there is a pending charge for $1129.28. So i said to csr i was quoted 918.18 he said give it a day and we can disute and see what is going on OK. Now i call gateway to see what the price is and find out it is $1129.28. Then i said about the quote i saved in my email addy well that is a mistake the Monitor we ajusted 140.00 for that then i asked about the 100.00 coupon he said what coupon? So i give him the coupon and he took that off. So the gateway is $1029.xx. No mind you NO ONE CALLED TO TELL ME OF THIS INCREASE IN PRICE. they just did so if you orderd on Sun and not seeing a pending call your cc and find out with a csr. I really don't like the way Gateway is be sneaky about this. I am thinking of canceling or disputing it? What do you people think?

What do you mean by ordering on Sun?

he ordered it on sunday

now that sucks. i don't think you should be the one doing the legwork. if they don't adjust the charge, then just refuse the shipment when it comes and dispute the charges with the credit card company

I ordered mine on Sunday also. I did it via phone because I added Office XP Small business. Just checked my Amex Blue. Charge was exactly as quoted. $918 plus $129 for Office XP plus tax. $1132 total just as quoted.

I tried opening a quote (2 quotes given) and all was OK. Wanted to then save it as mine and it said there was a server error. I just wanted to get my own number!

Does this still work, or are they just having a small problem.

Also, would the STORE do this for you, or can we pick it up in the store and save shipping??

HEY...I got my own quote!

Funny, they say they will honor it 'til March 14th subject to availability. There seems to be no availability issue if we do not want a monitor!

Yes you can order it from your local Gateway Country store and have it shipped there BUT you won't save a penny on shipping. You'll still be charged their outrageous shipping prices. The best option is to open your own FedEx account at fedex.com during check out it should ask how you want your computer shipped, select FedEx enter your account number. You'll be charged for FedEx's actual shipping costs not Gateway's ripoff "shipping & handling charges".

I will look into that! Also, it seems the store wants the actual $100 cert...so online they just trust you.

Still, I was wondering if once you pay for it at the store, they can not charge a different price as others claim is happening online?

Ugh! This thing shows up tomorrow and I'm doing math with Gateway.

Sub Total:$969.00
Discount¹: -$100.00
Est. Shipping & Handling: $49.00
Tax: 63.48
Cart Total: $981.48 NOT $1081.48.......wait......wait.....he is typing......"Kbrock, I guess I have found the difference in the price of the system that was causing an issue" (BS 😀)

Ugh "call Patrick" at Gateway..."Just go ahead and accept and then will get you that $140 monitor mixup credit later"...WHATEVER!!

Anyone delt with Patrick?

The big box came today. It must have been on the truck all night cause it was really cold. Documentation says not to use it if the computer is below 55 degrees. So another hour. Set-up was a snap. USBs worked pefectly (as did everything else). When I got to the internet set-up, the 12 months of free AOL is the default. I called and my rep said there was an incentive to sign up right away and I did. The computer feels solid, very quiet and a tad bit faster than my 200MMX.

I like it. When you folks get yours, please post a little note on your impressions.

3:02am out for delivery

i don't know that UPS goes out to deliver and knock on people's doors so early on the morning.

but i am so awake for it.

hope it comes at the dot of 8am.

will keep you guys posted on the system.

Two quick questions...

Has anyone confirmed the MoBo on this? Someone "thought" it was an Intel MVL850, but is it? I just want to see about it, and the Cost of upping the memory for this later (an I assume it is normal PC800 RDRAM).

Also, can we just blow away the XP and install our own? Did they install stuff on the hard drive that they did not give you Install disks for (including XP itself)?

TIA
