Hello Everyone,

I have a Gateway M-6750 Laptop. Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM, 250GB Western Digital Hard Drive and originally came with windows Vista Home Premium.

Now, some how the hard drive does not have anything on it. I tried installing windows vista but it keeps freezing at the splash screen. I've tried 3 different windows vista dvd, all of which work well on other systems but still got the same problem.

Now, I ran memtest86+ twice, western digital data tools and even installed a new hard drive. Memtest85+ passed with no errors along with WD data tools. To top this off, slax boots up pretty fast and I also install ubuntu and it worked fine. I also tried installing windows 7 but the latop frooze after a short period of time.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

You need to be more decriptive. Where is the freeze happening? The BIOS splash screen? The DVD booting the install splash screen, someplace else?

freezing occurs a short while after windows vista or windows 7 starts to install. I can get in setup and did load bios defaults etc.

If Gateway never sold the laptop with those OSs, then it's likely all the drivers you will need aren't available.
