Gateway Laptop Screen display problem

I have a Gateway NE56R41U laptop that had a cracked screen. I ordered a new screen and connecting cable (from mother board to back of new screen), the cable was severed in one spot. When I reassembled the unit with the replacement parts, all I get is a completely white washed screen display! I can hook up an ext monitor via the VGA port and see everything OK, startup graphics, login, Win 10 screen, go online, play Youtube videos, etc.. It seems as though the ext VGA Monitor screen functions OK (No GPU problems), unless the "VGA out" is different than the "video out" to the attached 15.6" WXGA screen?. http://www.ebay.com/itm/371524565233?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Any thoughts? Thanks in advance pclaptop23hour

A severed cable? There is no further need to wonder what the problem is. Return it or ask for a replacement.

Ketchup I replaced the severed cable with a new one along with a new screen and when finished and rebooted all I got was the white out screen . . . no BIOS, no "POST", no Logo, nothing but a white screen! I'm curious when the MB to screen cable was severed if it damaged the "LAPTOP SCREEN" video part of the GPU in deference to the "VGA out to EXT" monitor driver part of the GPU?? Is there indeed two sets out of output drivers in the GPU? One for the laptop screen and one for the VGA out? thanks for reply
