Gateway case

I had an opportunity to work on a friend's Gateway comp recently (replaced a HD) and liked the case. The hds were mounted crossways rather then lengthways. There was also a place for a case fan on the front that would brow across the hds, keeping them cool. The plastic panel on the top front was a puzzle - does it serve any purpose other than decoration?

Is this case available in the retail, non-Gateway market? Who manufactures it?

Do you have a link to a picture of the exact case? There are some similar cases out there but they are few and far between.
