Just picked one up yesterday as a replacement for my emachines m6805 (Wanted a DVD Writer). Runs great, has a fantastic screen. Also if you happen to have one of the emachines you can simply pop in an image of your old machine, and you'll be off and running.

Specs Mobile:

Mobile AMD Athlon 64 DTR 3400+ 2.2Ghz (Definitely a DTR as it has 1mb cache)
80 GB HD (4200 RPM Travelstar in mine)
1 GB PC2700 Ram (2 512mb sticks)
8x DL DVD Writer
ATI Mobility 9600 w/ 64 MB Ram (Box says it's a 9550 but comes clocked at 300 core 200 mem same as my old 9600)
802.11b/g Wireless (Broadcomm Chipset which unfortunately does not support Linux)

For More Specs Check our Best Buy's Website

Also if sales tax is really high in your state try a Price Match at JR.com
I tried but they wouldn't budge below $1325, maybe you'll have better luck than I did

Great Bang for your Buck. Beautiful 15.4" xBrite screen. And the processor isn't too shabby either.

High end, yes, low priced, yes... you can't have it all. If it had a 9800 or so, i'd be closer to $2000 than $1250.
