I apologize in advance if this is nothing special:

http://www.3btech.net/gaduvi18inxg.html

It's an 18" Gateway LCD with DVI for $399. It seems odd to me because the next closest price I've seen for an 18" with DVI is around $475. Does anyone know anything about this unit? Also if anyone knows anything about this vendor that would be great.

No apologies needed :)

unfortunately, though, this monitor is "re-certified". Hence the price.
Many of us were able to buy Dell 1800FP brand new for ~$420 after tax. You may want to wait for the next round of discounts/coupons...perhaps it'll even go lower.

I admit the page that you mentioned is very sneaky about revealing "recertified" state of the monitor.
At the bottom, it says "Manufacturer Recertified 3 Year Warranty"

Keep looking and posting !

OK thanks. I've had good experiences with refurbs before. I just might try this one out. Response time listed as 30 (rise + fall) looks acceptable.

Refurb but it has 3 yr warranty...that isn't too shabby in that case...usually refurb warranties are 90 days.

I picked up this monitor as a refurb from Outpost.com about a month ago for ~$355 shipped. Looks brand new. Does excellent in games.

Reseller ratings look golden as well. Located in South Bend, IN. Seems like a decent deal. But better are to be had. (it would be nice to have duals for these as well as my dual Dell 1800FPs, though. :)

Not a bad deal, however, i'd sell one of my brand new, sealed 1800FP's for 400+sh....with a 3yr warranty and it's new. Check FS.

30 ms with DVI should be acceptable for games. You might see very faint ghosting at most.

Damn though, $355. I'd jump on that in 2 seconds flat. If I can't find a better deal, I think I'll jump on this one though.

Spent all my money on a Planar deal before the 1800fp came up.
My three Dell 19 inch LCDs The two on the left are now hooked up to a dual DVI card I got here recently. right screen is on a second (pci) card.
Anyone noticed all the 1800fp's on Ebay?

I ordered a motherboard from these guys. I thought this vendor was fabulous. I actually thought these guys were better than Newegg.

You Sir, are the biggest nerd I have ever seen. ;)

I wish I could have 3 monitors on my desk. I am running dual at work (software development) and will never go back to a single monitor again. But 3 monitors would push the nerd factor over the edge.

I definately need to get ahold of my boss and show him your picture. Maybe I can get a bigger desk!!

Nope probabily not, the only LCD's I've seen are good 16ms or less ones that are acceptable for games.

I bought this LCD the Gateway FPD1830 18.1 for $362.95 shipped at Overstock.com - it is a refurbished unit but I can't see any problems with the LCD. No dead pixels or scratches when the screen arrived. I don't play any computer games so I can't comment on that. However, it is better have this LCD on the DVI port since in Analog mode text did not look very good.

that's the case with all LCDs, if digital is offered, analog won't be as good.
