Sunday afternoon. $2.99 per gallon regular/Mobil/self-serve. Burbank, Calif. That is the absolute lowest I have seen in So. Cal.

I got gas for $2.39 last Wednesday in Texas. Those gas taxes in Cali are going to kill you guys. Gas hasn't been over $3 here except right after the hurricanes last year.

Down 3 cents this week-end.

$2.40 Eastern Iowa - away from influence of Illinois

It must be a conspiracy... Those dirty republicans must be lowering the price of oil because of the upcoming election.

Two things: it always drops after labor day and a large part of the spike was from the ethanol mandate that started in 2006 (which was of course compounded by the summer driving seasons -- making for a major screwing of the consumer). I suppose you can still blame Republicans though, since they're the ones who pushed for the Corporate Welfare Act of 2005 (Energy Bill).

Lets not also forget retooling that was required for low sulfur diesel.

and that has to do with gas how?

BTW, 75 cent difference between where I live and where I work.

Still $3 here in Mountain time zone.

Maybe you know how to keep a refinary at 100% output while retooling it.

Fill up where it is cheaper, I suspect that price gap will shrink soon. There are some large price gaps here as well.

It's not cheap anywhere here, they are all around $3.

Yes I would absolutely know how to keep a refinery at 100% plus I would always be looking at expanding the output.

The bullcrap of not being able to refine the oil is 100% negligence and instead of being slpapped hard for it they get rewarded.

Gas prices down to about $2.80 here in central California, lowest in awhile. I anticipate they'll keep lowering too, knock on wood.

I doubt the changes in diesel have much of an impact on things. The switch to ultra low sulfur diesel was decided a long time ago (it still isn't even required yet, although we're almost there).

Also, does heating oil follow the same sulfur requirements as diesel fuel? I mean, other than the added color, it's the same thing.

It is still around 2.85 here in Utah

They've apparently only lowered the prices for the lower paid folks around the Country.

ahahahaha......

Gas Prices are at $3: "That Bush and his Oil Barons are ripping us off!"

Gas Prices are at $2: "It's a play for votes, nothing more!"

Some of you could become great lawyers the way you argue in circles.

Well that's my pick, I don't think Bush and Co WANT gas prices high...because voters don't tend to like that. And while I would believe the oil companies wouldn't care, I think the elected people might.

I also find it funny how so much seems to suddenly be happening lately that paints the existing group of elected people in a better light...if there was an election coming up, I might say that's a LITTLE coincidental. 😉

Oil companies get huge breaks from this administration.. it would make sense for them to lower prices prior to elections to ensure republicans remain... it is completely logical. If you don't want to see what is clear as day, it might be hard to see though. Did you see Exxon's profits this year?

How do oil companies lower the price of oil on the open market by 10 bucks in 7 weeks and drop another 10 cents for the price of unleaded in a week?

Extensive use of the Wayback machine.

Doesn't matter if it makes sense or not, Genx87......if the conspiracy theorists believe it is so, then it must be!! 😉

Hey, tropical storm Florence is expected to make Hurrican status, and is heading toward the east cost (NOT the Gulf!). Isn't it time for the doomsayers and conspiracy theorists to predict doom & gloom, $200/BBL oil and $10/gal gasoline???

Personally, I saw gas across town yesterday for $2.469.....which ticks me off, since I filled up a week and a half ago at $2.799!! :disgust:

Oil companies have ALWAYS received huge breaks...from every administration.

Yes, I saw Exxon's profits. I should buy some of their stock.
