Can I ask what is being so wasteful of being able to afford to go and do what ever you want when you want because you can afford the gas to go do such in a Country that was supposed to be a free one that you can do what ever you wanted to do in it?
I love the fact that gas went down, we dont make much, and I am able to afford to go places we have not been to in a VERY long time, like parks, or just getting us out of the damn house because it felt like we were held a prisoner in our own home because we couldnt afford the gas to get out and go some where. We dont live in a big city with things right next door, there is NO public transportation, and me being disabled, we need to use my van if we go anywhere, so $4 a gallon, there was no going out on the weekends just to get the hell out of here, and we went grocery shopping but once a month. I dont like the fact some ass holes feel its great gas cost so much because they feel it is a waste if people should ever want to leave their home, because they live in a city, or can ride a bike, or what have you. What about us, the broke, just making ends meet, who cant ride a bike no more, and have no means to other means of transportation, where to cost of gas means getting to work, or food on the table, or the means to get out of the house and do something, ANYTHING.
And who is it to say what is wasteful and whats not? Just because I cant see the need for a huge ass truck to pull a horse trailer because I dont own horses, should I call it wasteful of my Neighbor because he owns horses and a big ass truck to pull them with? Should I wish for $5 a gallon so he has give up that part of HIS lifestyle so as not to be wasteful of MY gas? Its his freedom to do what he wants or needs, and I havent the right to invoke what I feel may be wasteful for me upon him and try my best to make sure gas gets to a point he has to give up something he loves to do, because I want him to think of riding those horses then trailing them around. Im sure if they imposed a bike tax, and people wanted to limit the amount of bike riders at one time on the same stretch of road, and any more bikers over that quota must pay more, a shit load of you would be pissed. They, meaning people like me who dont find the need for a bike, let alone a bike on the road I drive on, are trying to limit your freedom of bike riding. Well its not fair for me to see $4+ a gallon of gas, limiting me to just the means for my wife to go back and forth to work, grocery shop one time a month, and forced to stay at our home for the rest of the time because we cant afford $4+ a gallon to go anywhere else we would like to go, or tell my kids I cant take them 20 miles to the park so they can play because it would cost me $15 in gas when I need to save that $15 to pay for the $4+ a gallon for milk they go through every 2 days to eat breakfast which I cant tell them NOT to eat.
NONE of us have the right to tell the others that what they happen to own or be doing that is using gas is wasteful, and wishing for more per gallon isnt going to work because not everyone lives in a big city where public transportation works for them, it would never work where I live, not enough people here to make it work, they be losing money hand over fist. There should be made another source of gas, or like gas, so that NO ONE will feel as though they feel the need to govern others in what they do, own, or like, not make it so damn high they are forced to have it taken away from them because the costs of doing such is out of their reach. But its no right of mine to tell you you can ride you bike only on a sunday during 1-3pm because I may have a doctors appointment, or for me to tell another person that because I dont see the need for what they have, own, or are doing its wasteful in my eyes and they should give it up, or make the cost of keeping such so high they are forced into giving it up, which is what $4+ a gallon of gas has done to MILLIONS of people like me, who dont have big ass van because he just has it, I need it to get me to my doctors appointments, or to get around town when we can afford it, but had to pay out more for gas causing them to tell their child who may be hungry they cant have anything to eat between means, or as a meal, because they needed that money so they can get to work instead.
But it all comes down to is who is it that says thy neighbor is being wasteful of gas, because its down to $1.50~ a gallon now? We are just enjoying what we had to give up out of our lives, that was part of our freedom to do so because some ass hole with a Schwinn Bike, public transportation, and a Hybrid decided that because he doesnt need a lawnmower, Truck to pull a load of lumber or horses/boat/jet ski, what have you, van to get around because he is disabled, is saying Im being wasteful because I like my freedom to get my self out of my home and enjoy life once in a while.
