"Here in this country, oil used for transportation is the major factor. And so far, we in this country are still in love with our S.U.V.s [Sport Utility Vehicles] and our pick up trucks," says Walter Cutler.

Those vehicles use much more fuel than most cars - which creates a greater demand for gasoline - further driving up the price of oil." link

All you people who needlessly drive SUVs and trucks. You know who you are, you.. the only one in the car pretending to be rich with an SUV. You who take the S and U out of SUV. You who buys and SUV and race it like it was a race car. For those that race, wth is wrong with you.

No wonder the gas prices are high, we have morons on the road, that not only can't drive and cant read 20 foot signs, but they waste gas for no reason.

And the people with the gas guzzling hot rods are doing this country a service while the SUV's are terrorist tools!

Give them a decent flogging (IE - liek they were meant to be driven), and you can kiss good gas mileage away.

That'd make sense if I didn't get pissed off while paying $3 to gas up my Protege...

Fuel prices are high because of:

1. Demand from China and the rest of the world.

2. US Oil refinery capacity has not keep up with demand. The price of gas goes up everytime there is a refinery fire or mishap. It has been 20 to 30 years since the last one was built in the US.

3. Lack of non oil burning energy producing capacity. When was the last nuclear power plant built in the US?

$3.00+ a gallon gas prices will reduce the demand for and the usage of SUV, pickup trucks, and large and powerful cars.

Hey, I'm not saying SUV is the only thing raising gas prices, but Everywhere you look is a freaking SUV, it's bound to have a huge impact.

All you people calling me a retard probably own SUVs.

How often do you see a vette or a Mustang GT, or some hot rod car, definitely not as often as an SUV. not even close.

I drive a corolla, thank god.

Ya, I am pretending to be rich. Sure.
I drive a 4x4 pickup that is 13 years old. It gets 18 mpg at best on the highway, but you know why I drive it? I don't owe anything on it, insurance is dirt cheap, and I need a truck to pull my boat and haul materials for home repairs. Sure, I use more gas, but I also am maintaining an older vehicle which is being responsible by re-using rather than let my truck go to the scrapyard.
Damn, I'm rich because I drive a truck worth about $3000, and I only get 18 mpg. F*ck you.

So an SUV being driven 5,000 miles a year is worse than a Corolla driven 30,000 miles a year?

**LOL**
My wife is an assistant Manager for a convienient store/gas station and she constantly hears people bit*h about how much money they have to spent to fill up their SUVs. Maybe when gas prices hit that $3.00 mark they'll wise up and buy more fuel efficient cars, but I doubt it! They'll just keep bit*hing!
