I was watching topgear a while back where they went 800 miles on a single tank in an Audi A8L 4.0 TDi. He mentioned that you cannot run out of fuel in a diesel (maybe it was speciafically the TDi series of diesels) because if air gets in the system, the whole thing has to be purged at the dealer. What this flush entails, I do not know. I know that diesel is injected at very high pressures, so I'm guess air woul be bad to go through the system?

Ok, I know this was dead, but I just came across this bit-o-drama :roll:

Sorry muncher ... your a technician at best. Picking parts from a catalog, assembling them, even doing some minor mods, etc. does not make you an engineer. Not even close.

I've designed and built many computers and high performance computational clusters. Am I a computer engineer? No, far from it. When you start designing trannies, engine blocks, valve trains, etc. from the ground up you can call yourself an automotive engineer. When I start designing digital circuits I'll call myself a computer engineer.

I suggest you save off this thread somewhere so you can re-read it in a couple of years when you grow up. Always good to see where you came from.
