Inflation anyone?

$81,400,836,908

Just how big does PayPal think the tank is in a 94 Chevy Camaro

?Somebody from a foreign country who spoke in broken English argued with me for 10 to 15 minutes,? Zamora said. ? ?Did you get the gas?? he asked. Like I had to prove that I didn?t pump $81,400,836,908 in gas!?

Driving on streets paved with gold?

.

Maybe it was stimulus funded credit card. Its like a card that only work when its the total is at least one billion.

whoa. scarry that it can mess up like that

No, the scary part is that the CSR's actually think that you need to prove that you didn't spend that much on gas!

So, someone from AT works at paypal and overclocked the wrong computer?

Edit: Would have been better if it was -$81billion. I don't think I'd let them off the hook for the $81 Billion they owed me.

it was a mistake, and he was NOT charged 81B

He had a printed receipt...

When Zamora returned to the Conoco gas station, he said, the attendant would not believe him until he showed her the printout of the PayPal receipt.

Msnbc story must be incorrect if he had a printed receipt to show to people.

A couple things here. A gas station only requests authorizartion for $1 when you first put your card in the pump. Once that authorization is granted, the merchants can process up to $75 (For most card, some vary).

Here is the other thing any merchant, anywhere, anytime can push through a transaction without proper authorization. It happens alll the time on card #s that dont even exist or old expired cards. The banks just take care of this on the back end and take the money back with a chargeback.

Last thing, even if the person doesn't have a receipt, anything over $75 can automatically be chargedback without a copy of the receipt.

Still, we have no idea where the problems lies. At the gas station or if it is on the paypal side of it, which wouldnt suprise me.

Now it makes complete sense once I saw the MSNBC story, allll paypal. Next time I will read first lol yeah right.

But a spokeswoman for PayPal, Sara Gorman, said Friday that misunderstanding was the result of a mistake in a voice mail from a PayPal processing partner about the transaction that put the merchant identification number where the amount should have been. ?I can assure you that we did not charge him $81 billion,? Gorman said.

Thankfully, Dave isn't here to reply to this. He'd have a paranoid field day.

You really think he doesn't read EVERY post here and fumes at not being able to post about it? 😀

Isn't $81 billion about average in California?

You'd have to be filling up a really big RV! I doubt this guy is driving around in a motor home
