Gas Fire place won't turn on...

Anyone has a gas fireplace that can give their input on the issue that I am having?

Over the weekend I tried to turn on our gas fireplace, read the instructions carefully and got the Pilot Light lit after holding down the pilot button for a good minute. The instruction said to turn the knob to ON after the minute and the pilot lights stays on, well there's no fire, don't smell the gas neither, tried everything I could had think of.

The instructions said to TURN it off for 30secs, Turn the it to Pilot while Holding it down for 1minute and 30secs while lighting the pilot, depress button and turn it to ON. The pilot stays on. The instruction said to turn another Button on the side to ON, which I did. This should be the final step which will fire up the fireplace.
 
Is it self igniting? I would try using matches/lighter to see if maybe ignition is out.

After of course verifying the gas lines to the fireplace are open. Remember if it's a valve with a bar handle the bar needs to be parallel to the pipe to be open

Oh, you got the pilot lit. Do you have a remote for the thing? Do you have a burner which is covered with sand? It's possible that the sand became moist over the summer and then caked, effectively sealing the gas instead of allowing it to seep through. Try uncovering the burners and try again
 
I know with mine I have to throw a switch on the wall for the fireplace to actually turn "on". Aside from the blower. You have to be getting gas if the pilot stays lit. Is this the first time you have ever used the fireplace? (It sounds like it.) It could also be a model that requires the blower to be electrically active before turning "on".
 
If after the pilot light stayed lit, and you turned it to On, it's not calling for heat. Where's the thermostat?
 
Is the unit attached to a thermostat?
Is the pilot light heating multiple items?
In some units, the pilot light heats a thermocouple, and a thermopile. The thermopile creates energy that runs the gas valve and rocker switch.

Look at the pilot light.

knob should be set to ON
my fireplace has a different switch (like on the back of a PSU) that needs to be set to ON also.
additionally you may have a wallplate switch for the blower, that may need to be on too

Yes, this house was built in the '97 and it does have a Wall Plate and a Remote Control. I have tried all combination and still no go, is there a specific way of doing it?

1. The Knob is set on ON after the pilot is light.
2. The Wall Plate Switch is Set on ON
3. The Fireplace Switch(three settings, RS, ON and Off) is also set on ON
4. The Blower is turned on as well.

Have you looked at the pilot light to verify if there is a thermopile or not. If there is and it is not working properly or if there isnt enough pilot flame engulfing the thermopile, then the unit will not light up from lack of.

Make/model of unit would help.
