Use a water container. They aren't required to be CARB compliant. Write gas on the outside with a sharpie.

This. I just remove the CARB crap.I'd modify what you have. Remove any spill protector it may have, and use a cork for the end.

Blitz, maker of most of the plastic gas cans in the US, has actually gone into bankruptcy from lawsuits. IIRC, they want Blitz to install flame arrestors to protect users...
The new spouts are dangerous, imo, but they weren't Blitz's idea.

good thing i got 4 of the old 5 gallon jugs and have like 6 1-3 gallon jugs in my garage.
