How good is the Bluetooth on this thing?
Isn't one just better of just buying the Garmin nuvi 750 at $200 and getting a Plantronics Bluetooth headset with the difference?

750 has bluetooth also, I have it. The difference between 750 and 760 is the speech of street names. Mine just says turn left when it's time to turn, 760 will say turn left on Division. It's usefull when you have a bunch of cross streets all close buy and it's easy to get confused and turn into the wrong street whithout hearing the name.

To answer your original question though, BT on GPS is just a gimmick like mp3 player. You end up sitting too far away from microphone since most will mount these on windshield. Also the unit's speaker is turned away from you facing the winshield making it hard to hear it over the vehicle noise while driving (I drive a semi, so it's loud). Now, these GPS units have radio transmitter so they can relay the sound to your strereo. I haven't tried it yet with BT since my strereo is broken but I would imagine it wouldn't help with a phone call since it will probably echo back into microphone or make it squeel.

Also this is great deal on a great GPS unit. A year ago I bought my 750 for $400! And that was a crazy good discount back then since these units cost close to $600-700.

Bluetooth is not listed as one of the specifications for nuvi 750.
Also, Amazon states that the nuvi 750 has "Text-to-Speech(Directions in Real Street Names)", just like the nuvi 760.

http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-4...r=019608Z7MG1TD6QJMYBE

Which is correct? 😕

Almost ALL of the nuvi units minus the lowest end 200 series units have TTS (Text To Speech).

The website is correct.

I actually didn't know my 680 had TTS until I changed the language to the appropriate setting since only certain languages/voices have TTS.

Ok, I must've confused the model number then, so many of them. I probably have 760 then but I'm not getting TTS. I'll see if it's going to work with a different voice like dds14u suggested.

I think a good BT ear piece is better, but I guess it depends on where you position your unit and how quiet your car is. One plus side is that Nuvi will download all your contacts and when a call comes though you will immideatly see who's calling on the big screen without having to reach for phone.
