$75 for:

a small incline bench
a barbell with 160lbs in plates
"curved" barbell (for bicep curls, i think)
adjustable dumbells with about 50lbs

is this a good price?

edit
also quick question: can i spray paint the weights? the set is mixed with gold and black, and some of the plates are rusty.

are there any paints i should avoid, that might make the plates slippery?

any rust? chrome? rubber? grips? without seeing condition hard to put a price on stuff like that...sometimes people treat their weights well other times they can look like crap...i prefer mine to look pretty good...

Sounds good, especially if it's olympic and it's a decent bench. Probly not olympic due to only having 160 lbs (most std sets come with that it seems). If the bench is one of those crappy ones where the uprights are right where your grip SHOULD be then don't buy it.

Oh yeah and...

if you want to start lifting weights, do it at a gym. trust me, you will be MUCH more motivated at a gym where you have to actually physically leave your house to workout, than you will be if you have it in your garage or downstairs, and can workout whenver you want, and also 'take a break' whenever you want ...

Are you buying this or selling this, because if you're selling it I will give you $100 plus shipping.

The only thing I would look at is how the weights attach to the bar. On the weight set my parents bought me, the cuffs attach with nothing more than friction between a screw and the bar. I've had weights fall off more than once while doing a tricep exercise with a dumbbell. If there's some sort of interlock, go for it, that's a good price.

i went ahead and bought it.

there were some more plates that the previous owners found.....total in plates is about 250lbs.

it's a little old looking. they are not an olympic set. the brand name is "Wielder". probably not the best, but i'm sure i'll get my money's worth. i'll try to get some pics if anyone's interested :)

seems high for a garage sale, especially if it's a concrete weight set

they're probably anxious to get it out of the way, try haggling down to $50

EDIT: I see it's 250 lbs, that's a better deal

Wow, shipping is going to be expensive.

Retail:
160lb barbell set $100
PowerBlock 50lb Adjustable dumbbells $250
Incline Bench $150
EZ curl Bar $30
Plus tax

Shipping + $100 would be less than that total.

If I remember correctly that is the brand they sell at Sears so if you ever need any new weights check out Sears.

Weider, ala Joe Weider, and it's sold nationwide at most sporting good stores and not exclusive to Sears.

Ahh ok. Only place I have seen them is Sears, but we really don't have any sporting goods stores in the middle of Cornfield, IN.

lol @ Cornfield, IN. :)

Weider all in all is a decent brand. You get what you pay for in terms of new equipment.

You sure that's not "Wieder" as in Joe Wieder, the grandfather of modern day bodybuilding. He was one of the first players in making weight equipment available to the public at affordable prices. But in today's world most of his equipment is "cheap".

No problem. While you have a standard barbell set and not olympic, the adjustable dumbbells are worth more than what you paid.
