garage door question -- found it half opened this morning ...

Woke up this morning and as I was heading out to work, I found my garage door half opened!! First thought, was fvck someone is in there or someone just stole all my stuff ... but luckily nothing was gone and no one was in there.

I went and hit the garage door opener and nothing the door wouldn't move. I know I used the door after work yesterday, watched it start coming down and I went in, I never watched it go all the way down.

I guess the question is, what can go wrong so that the door wouldn't move? I hit the button but nothing happens, I check the power and it's connected, nothing is blocking it's way ... did the motor just die?

I dont have a house with a garage so this may sound stupid and strange. Does the power in the garage have a seperate fuse or switch in the fuse/switch box.

hrmm, good point, I'll have to check that after I get home, there is an outlet on there so I chk to see if it's getting any power. Right now I just manually closed it.

Use an extension cord, plug the opener into a different outlet in your house. Try again. If that doesn't work and that outlet does, then your opener is the culprit.

It may think that something was in the way while u tried to close it last time so it stopped. Try pulling it down manually and hitting your garage door opener.

Pull the safety release, bring it all the way down, reset the power on the opener, and let it reattach itself to the door. This would fix my old one, but i got annoyed with that and bought a new opener.
