On Friday, I had to get the springs replaced on my garage door. Same thing was OP described. I looked up in the middle of the door and saw the broken springs. I was quoted $169 but only paid $150 (cash discount.) Price was to replace both springs, only one was broken.

My spring is fine. I had the exact problem described on amazon by people who brought the gear replacement. My gears was stripped with white shaving like snow all over the inside cover.

Its just being inexperience thats getting the most of me right now.

So you got them both replaced? Smart move if you did. My wife has a story or two every week in the cold months of the year about a customer that only wanted one spring replaced. She says they're usually back within a week to replace the second spring. They both get the same usage and usually break at right about the same time.

They typically break in the winter.

Verdit:

Fixed.

- He said i shouldn't have replaced the smaller gear. The only problem was the big white gear. i reinstalled one part wrong because it wasn't on the shaft far enough to re-attach the sensor.
- The door was missing an rpm sensor which caused it to NOT spin the motor 100 percent. The sensor was on my rooms floor.
-I re-installed the track wrong

Heres the product i brought but from a company on EBAY. Actually the company i brought it from was LOCAL and came out and repaired the thing. Even though i screwed up simple things. He said i put it back together almost perfect. When they fix this common problem they only repair the main problem gear. Well, i did both which no-one ever does lol.


Final Cost: 90

$29.75 for the gears off ebay
$59 for the guy to repair what i screwed up
