GAP commercial question

Who is the lady behind the piano while her daughter is singing and then she sings. Her daughter says that her mother is her inspiration. I cant think of her name dammit.

I think I know the commericial you're talking about, is it Carol King?

Oops n/m, not only am I probably wrong on the commerical, but the person I was thinking of was Carly Smon.

Could be! I don't watch TV very often, but I do recall seeing a commercial and being surprised to see (said singer) appearing in it, maybe my first guess was correct w/Carole (thanks for the "e") King.

It really is amazing how fickle American celebrity and celebrity is. When Carole King released Tapestry in the early 70's, it was the No. 1 best selling album for it seemed like forever. She wrote or co-wrote a large number of huge hits in the sixties. Now she is almost a nonentity. Well, I hope (and expect) that she has a huge pile of royalties to sit on.

At least she has a Gap commercial! 😀 How many 70's singer/songwriters have completely faded into oblivion? Many, methinks.
