It's very accurate historyically. I don't know if the riots are accurate, but that is highly likely. I liked how they showed the truth of the most oppressed whites, the Irish, hating blacks the most.

I loved it! Scorsese is brilliant!
ugh. 'gangs of new york' was formulaic by hollywood and scorsese's standards. his style and temperment is old.
since goodfellas in 1990, he's made only one half-interesting work and that was 'casino' in 1995. and before that
you need to go back to 'raging bull', and maybe 'the last temptation of christ'. so, in the past 20 years i count at
most 2 and maybe 3. cape fear was not original work and deniro, as usual, carries his films.

the film is based on the a book which scorsese is said to have wanted to film for over 30 years.

Not a DiCaprio fan or a Diaz fan, but Daniel Day-Lewis acted everyone else off the screen anyway
that's because scorcese loves baddies. day-lewis won a sort of lottery to play a meanie in a scorsese flick - not to detract
from his excellent performance though. almost all the other players are in comparison non-existent.
