He can communicate with insects. Remember he spoke to that moth when he was trapped on the tower. That's magic, isn't it.

I can defeat balrog but I don't wanna.
Actually I sort of have to resort to "cheaping" him in the corner with Sagat. But irregardlessit's still a win!

No, it seems Gandalf is a Druid! He can speak with the animals.
Gandalf can make his horse run really fast.
And he can make light come from his staff.
What else can he freaking do?
He's a Ranger who CAN'T speak with animals and do magic. He's been too busy to study.Originally posted by: WinkOsmosis

And I guess Aragorn isn't a ranger because he can't speak with animals and has no magic.
I have to agree with you. All these people that complain about the movie's have no respect for the books. Jackson did not create the idea behind the movie, he turned a great book into a great movie.Originally posted by: kami

Did you even WATCH the first two movies?
What about the first one? Invoking fear into someone (Bilbo), Destroying the bridge
Second one: Destroying a Balrog? Driving Saruman out of King Theoden
The ones you listed are from the 3rd one, and Gandalf didn't make his horse run like that. It was the horse itself. The last of a special breed. It also looks like he used a bit of magic to wake Pippin back up after he looked into the Palantir.
If you want cheesy, cliched wizards go back to your Dungeons and Dragons sillyness. This isn't cheese fantasy. It's fantasy with roots in reality, that is what sets LOTR apart.

iirc in the book for return of the king, when he rides from the minas tirith to take on the nazgul as the riders come back to the city, he does use lightning....in the movie it was just a beam of light, how meh

I thought that was because Jackson hates the idea of magic?
