Gaming with Vista 64-Bit

Hi, Does anyone know of a current (updated or maintained) list of all the PC games that work correctly with the Vista 64-Bit operating system ?😕

Here is a LIST that you can download in Excel format. Its pretty accurate but not entirely, for instance Vampire: Bloodlines and a few others work completely fine for me but this document says it didnt

To be honest with you, I have been using Vista x64 for a while now and I've yet to find a single game that doesn't work on it. You have to set compatibility mode and stuff for certain games, and Star Trek: Armada played pretty crappy but other then that, no issues.

Seems like some of those incompatibilities aren't even a real problem.

For Diablo 2 it says it works if you crack the game; the cd check is the issue and the crack goes around that.
For Oblivion it says it won't install from a CD image due to copyright protection... is that really a Windows problem or is that an Oblivion/Alcohol problem?
Many of the problems are "installer is 16-bit" but also have a note saying you can copy the game files from another computer.
Fear's expansion pack works fine with a no-cd crack.

So far the only game I've had problems with in Vista is Red Alert 2. It needs Win98 emulation so it only uses 1 processor, and it needs to run in windowed mode or else it causes blackscreen (which might actually be a video card problem, 8800GTX). GTA Vice City was also being a bitch with dual processors, but it works fine in Win98 emulation.
Seems like Win98 emulation fixes a lot of problems.

I haven't had a game that didn't work yet, but some were a pain to get working for sure, like Farcry. But overall I like Vista, mostly Super fetch.

ShawnD1 is this Win98 emulation you speak of another application or something I need to look into? Or are you simply referring to Selecting Win98 compatibility in Vista?

Haven't had a game that didn't run in Vista 64. You can run DosBox in Vista 64. ScummVM is also good. There are still problem games that like Aliens Vs Predator Gold but that had issues on XP too until you fixed the file that was messed up. Thus, there is no reason not to do Vista 64 if you have 4g of ram and a 64bit CPU if you are looking for older game compatibility. You might want to look into an AMD HD38x00 card though as it support for old games is a lot better than Nvidia's 8 series is.

The only game I had a problem with is Bionicle Heroes and I just used a nocd patch to get it to work. The game kept complaining about missing graphics hardware that my 8800GTS definitely has.

I had an issue with vista x64 and World in Conflict. During the single player mode it kept locking up and saying that i dont have enough memory. Looked at the FAQ's and downloaded some patch. Works perfectly now.

I suspect that the list is similar to the list for XP 64 bit. Many older games, Civ 2 for eg, won't even Install in XP 64. Vista may have different issues though.

I have yet to run into a game that will not work at all on Vista x64 (after patching each game).

However Knights of the Old Republic I and II are quite unstable. Warcraft III un-patched would not run at all.

I've got around 60 games installed on Vista x64 and only had some minor problems with a few. Nothing that a quick google search didnt fix.

Honestly I have more problems getting some older games to widescreen

I have to run the exe of Guild Wars as an Administrator for some reason, and the video driver dies out when I'm playing (it comes right back after about 2 seconds though).

I've been using Windows Vista 64-Bit for a couple of months now and I've been able to play every game I've tried so far (about 45 different games; a combination of the newest games and some older games). I have fallen in love with Vista 64, it's very fast with 6GB of memory.
