Gaming to cost $60 a pop now? Sure looks that way....

Yea, I know it sucks. But, if you think about it (like the linked article says). We've been gaming on $50 for about 20 years now. I guess we kinda saw it coming with D3 costing $55 and now HL2 as well.

Yea, inflation is just a fact of life I guess.

I think for the most part, the normal games will be $50... the problem is, that HL2 and Doom3 are so huge, that they know they can charge that much and people will pay pay PAY!

no one is making you pay. or play for that matter.

Exactly, last new game that I bought that I remember was Max Payne 2, for something like $40. Gonna wait until Doom3 drops to around that price before I think about buying it.

yah super street fighter 2 turbo was $70! but that game rocked!

this looks like a PC trend. i actually like how the ESPN games this year were released for $20 on the consoles, that rocks! I only use consoles (mainly xbox) anyways, so it would suck to be a pc gamer ... unLESS ...

Screw 'em. I hardly buy any games anyway. I've been playing either demos or Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam which are the only two games I've purchased because I love them so much. Mods keep them fresh for me.

I doubt it. At least not a significant one. People who pay for games will keep on paying. Just like a $10 decrease likely wouldn't make people who don't pay for them pay for them.

Well, it kinda looks like this is going to be geared more towards the consoles, but it looks like it already happening to some of the PC games.

Steam, here I come! 😛

Thanks to mIRC, I don't have to pay for anything 😀 😀

doubtful... people that buy games are gonna buy it regardless and will not be deterred from 50 -> 60
and pirates would still dl it if it only cost 40

more likely is you might find more people that wait for the price to drop from 50-60 to 30-40 before they buy

prices are going up bc games are getting more complex and require more resources to be made

SNES had games costing up to $70 in the end and they still lots...so price is not gonna mean anything if people really want it...

i agree with you for the most part, but people said the same thing about CDs. prices were high enough that the casual person resorted to piracy.
