Ok this is what I'm getting; if you think I'm skimping on the motheboard or putting too much on something then tell me:

91.14$ Corsair 1GB RAM with Shipping.
146$ AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice(Free shipping)
114.99$ Antec Sonata II Case (With shipping)
294$POWERCOLOR Radeon X800XL (With shipping)

TOTAL= 729.12, and I'll have 33.01$ left

I'm upgrading from a Radeon 9700Pro, AMD Athlon XP 2600+, Asus A7v333, and 512mb of PC2700.

Feel FREE to recommend ANYTHING different.

The XFX 6800 GT is $250 with a $50 mail in rebate. Now that is good.
Wait the rebate is gone...
Don't worry it'll be back in about 3-5 days.

EDIT: why $11 more? The AOpen 6800 GT is actually $5 cheaper and it's a good card.

The leadtek isn't that great anymore as it now ships with the reference nvidia cooler instead of its massive custom one. As for being "really fast" its exactly the same as any other 6800 GT +/- 1 fps.

Does it really blow? I mean; is it a 7800GT? Would it be worth it over the 6800GT? And should I skimp on the AMD Athlon 64 3000+ and instead of retail, get OEM? 7800GT rocks but unless you play at higher resolutions (especially 16x12 and above) the difference over the 6800 isn't all that great in most areas.

EDIT: And If I go with THAT^ 6800 GT, Ill have 43.01 bucks to upgrade a part. I want to upgrade th motherboard; what should I upgrade it to?

Therfore go for whatever is cheaper.

6800GT > X800XL


The only reason to get an X800XL is for its price, its usually cheaper than the 6800GT. But overall, the 6800GT outperforms it in games, however slightly.

For $399, you can get an EVGA NF4 motherboard, 7800GT, and a copy of BF2 from newegg. You might want to look into that.

I just picked up the EVGA SLI NF4 board and 7800GT card for $450.

I already have BF2 though; and the 6800GT will probably last me a LONG time... I dunno.
