120hz.net has in stock a special run of the catleap 2b ips monitors, that can be overclocked to 120 hz. 700 bucks however.

Any offer opinions on 140mm fans? My favorite brand scythe is apparently no longer sold in the states.

On the monitor issue: you could get three monitors and then only use one for gaming. The rest of the monitors will be there for other uses, like surfing the internet/movie watching/working. Connect two panels to the integrated graphics and the center to the GPU.

I don't think that the Intel IGP can handle two dual-link DVI connections. You could do one off the IGP and two off the GPU with no performance hit though.

Thanks for the link to frozencpu, I hadnt even thought to look there for fans.

My plan is to take the girlfriend down to Chicago this weekend, and somehow stop off at microcenter and purchase a monitor. I figure tack on an extra ten bucks to bribe someone to test it in store. I am planning on getting their version of the Korean S-IPS panel, if only for the convenient warranty and display ports.

I figure it provides an easy upgrade path to adding additional monitors as I can afford them, and have the hardware to drive them.

I am pushing the button tonight on the build, although I am reconsidering the motherboard and case.. Having the 3rd x16 slot would leave me another upgrade option.

MC sales people are on commission, they will gladly test the monitor for you if that's what it takes to make the sale.

Well I visited microcenter, got a stellar deal on my processor, and ended up picking up the thor v2 case for a greatly reduced price (open box clearance)

unfortunately out of the 5 27" Auria monitors they had in stock, all of them had dead/bright pixels, and had been returned.

I elected to go with a single 7970, and a single 27" ips that can be overclocked to 120 hz from overlord.

Yeah the Auria is still an A panel like the Catleaps. You have to go with a major brand to get an A+ panel. Glad you made out OK though.
