Gaming problems

Has anybody else heard of a problem like this:

I have:
Athlon 64 3000 (Venice)
Gigabyte Nforce 3 Socket 939
XFX 8X AGP Geforce 6600 GT
1 GB (512 MBx2) DDR 400 Corsair Value Dual channel memory
Windows XP Pro, Direct X 9.0c, latest NVidia driver

Halo runs like crap on my computer now. It feels like it's running at about half the speed it's supposed to be running at. I had an Athlon XP (Barton 2600) with matching motherboard, and Halo ran fine, but now it can't even manage 30 fps at 1280x1024 (which a 6600 GT and Athlon 64 should easily be able to handle.) At first, I thought it was a hardware problem, but Farcry and Doom 3 run great--Doom 3 stays locked at 60 fps most of the time at high resolution. But the kicker is, I think Halo runs better when I force the memory into single channel mode instead of dual channel. Also, Painkiller runs really crappy for no apparent reason (and it didn't used to, either).

So, I'm wondering, are my processor, memory, and motherboard all right? Do I need to get an update for Halo and/or Painkiller?

Thanks for any help.

What would reinstalling windows help?

its a typical sarcastic responce to comp issues, like Format C:

Do you have a comparable video card, or even less by the sounds of it, to swap into your system?

Is your system stable? Run something like prime and 3dmark05 in loops.

Does it pass memtest?

Did you try perhaps scaling back to an older Nvidia driver?

PSU? Nice system but what power supply do you have running that? It might not be sufficient...
