Gaming PC around 1500$ (1200€)

Hey Guys,

I'm here to ask for a good advice about a new Gaming Computer.
I'm from Germany, so if you suggest me some systems, I'll "re-build"
them on German Websites, to see how much it costs. As the title show,
the new build budget is around 1500$.

The PC is just for gaming and maybe streaming. Right now I'm just playing
Dota2 / DayZ / Red Orchestra 2. I'm not the biggest fan of games like BF3/Crysis.
But this system should do a good job in the future. (ARMA 3 and stuff)

If you have any questions, just ask. I'm trying to answer ASAP.

// Sorry for my english :/ //

Regards gLock

Could you answer the questions here:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=24043454&postcount=1

It would be really helpful to providing you with input.

Sure, I'm sorry.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
- Gaming + Streaming

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
- 1500$

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
- Germany

4. IF you're buying parts OUTSIDE the US, please post a link to the vendor you'll be buying from.
We can't be expected to scour the internet on your behalf, chasing down deals in your specific country... Again, help us, help YOU.
- geizhals.de (it's a price check site)

5. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
- not at all

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
- nothing

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
- would be nice to OC, but I do not know if I could do it 😉

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?
1920x1200 px

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Note that it is usually not cost or time effective to choose your build more than a month before you actually plan to be using it.
- this or next month

X. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?
- I already own Windows 7 64 Bit

You mentioned that you're willing to wait about a month, if you can wait a month, intel's new haswell is supposed to drop in June, and while it's not nearly as exciting for desktops as for laptops/ultrabooks, it's still a notable performance improvement, and a new MoBo socket.

At this point, unless you need a system badly, I would third waiting to see how Haswell turns out. If you need a system today, we can definitely whip up a good Ivy Bridge system.

By your answer to question #8, I assume you already have a monitor?

Yes I have a monitor.

Would be great to see what you suggest me right now. Maybe it's "that" system, so I would buy right now 😛

As some of you got the time, just link me some parts. Would be great!

Well if you're just looking and playing with part lists, you could try something like this, which is very easily overclock-able:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($220.98 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($27.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($134.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($114.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($189.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ Newegg)

But I think you can get a little better value if you swap the CPU+MoBo+RAM from above with the combo mfenn found on Newegg this week:

i5+z77 Extreme 4 + 1x8GB ram @ 348 USD

Then add a second stick of RAM for @70 USD to get you to 418 USD for CPU+RAM+MoBo. The parts I picked out are 471 USD. So it'll save you a handful of bucks for identical parts. You've even got a few bucks leftover if you'd like a nicer case, or a blu-ray player, or whatever.

Unless you HAVE to have this soon though, let me reiterate that I think you're best off waiting for Haswell in a month 🙂

Sure thing, here's a list:

i5 3570K 193e
ASrock Z77 Pro3 77e
GeIL DDR3 1600 8GB 52e
XFX 7970 314e
Samsung 840 120GB 80e
Seagate 7200RPM 1TB 53e
Samsung DVD Burner 15e
Seasonic S12II 620W 69e
Fractal Design R4 88e
Total: 941e

That leaves you with enough spare budget to do a few things:
- Get nice peripherals like a mechnical keyboard
- Double the RAM to 16GB
- Double the SSD to 250GB
- Swap the GPUs out for 7950 CFX and a 750W PSU
