You can run the system, but not the games, with integrated graphics for the time being. Snatch a 670 as soon as its in stock for ~$400. Did you end up going with i5-2400+H61 or i5-3570K+Z77?

BTW be on the lookout for Asus 670 cards appearing on newegg soon, they'll probably run out fast

if I wanted the msi I would have it already but thanks.....frys electronics by my house even has the msi for the same price....are the asus 670's equally good to the gigabytes? I've heard a lot of people say that the gigabytes are slightly better then the evga ones and some of the other 670's for these reasons:

1) Gigabyte currently offers the highest default clocks out of the gate despite retailing for the same price as other stock GTX670s.
2) Gigabyte has provided what appears to be a far superior cooling solution compared to the reference boards. This should help keep heat down and allow higher custom overclocks.
3) Gigabyte utilized a custom full length PCB as opposed to the shorter reference boards.
4) Gigabyte chose to go with a 5 phase PWM as opposed to the 4 phase reference PWM. This will allow the board to more reach higher overclocks.
4) Gigabyte has gone with a 8pin + 6pin power configuration vs. the reference 6pin + 6pin. This should help stabilize overclocks at higher frequencies.

the asus 670 I don't really know anything about but I have nothing but good experiances with the asus products I've owned

Those are definitely real benefits over reference cards, but Asus 670 could be better than gigabyte, it uses a custom PCB with higher quality components. At least so I've read, see here: What is the verdict on "DirectCu" v. "Windforce". If Asus appears in stock on newegg, just grab it, you won't be disappointed

ohh dude thanks for finding that........So after reading over that thread I'd pretty much be happy with either one......Some places that sitll have the gtx 670's in stock are charging like 485-500$ for them and for that price I might as well just get the gtx 680's.......basically I'm going to grab whichever of the two pop up first.....and btw I ordered my pc earlier toay from newegg and some of the stuff I got is already coming friday and I just got the standard shipping haha.....

I don't want to hijack the thread but I'm going for the same exact thing PC for less than 1400 so I also didn't want to make a new thread.

Currently I have a 3 year old hp pavilion dv7 notebook PC with an AMD Turion II DUal Core 6 GB RAM and Radeon HD 4200. I am pretty clueless about everything though I've gone and found out enough to know these are seriously going to underperform.

I saw you folks suggesting all these parts earlier in the thread for a manual build. Is it possible to go to someone with the list of all these parts and have them build it for me? Do any companies or reliable web sites do things like that?

I'm looking to just have an up to date PC capable of playing newer games like d3, wow, etc. I havent really been PC gaming for several years while going through college and whatnot and don't want to blow 2,000 bucks on a PC just to play some games and find that the thing can't run any programs like MS office and is obsolete as far as gaming goes within a year. Thank you for any help

Honestly building your own computer is something you should try if you are even somewhat technologically and mechanically oriented. If you need advice on parts we can give you that, if you have questions on HOW to build a computer we can help with that too.

First question is what parts should I be getting? The self building I think I will forego this time and look into doing for my next PC. Im just nuts bogged down with work and want to just be able to plug my PC in and go. (With the typical OS, antivirus, etc install of course)

then if I do have a list of parts is there somewhere I can go to have someone build a PC to my specifications? (really your specifications)

Or is there simply a cheap good, reliable PC I can get for around 1100 bucks (give or take a few hundred) that matches the criteria of what I'm looking for in a cpu?

Is it a good deal if for 800 dollars (without shipping) I'm being offered an intel i5 Quad core (The accent of the guy on the phone and my lack of familiarity with processors made it hard to understand) with a graphics card in the Radeon hd 6-7000 range. 2.4 GHz, 6 GB RAM or should I look more towards customizing it.

Sorry if Im jumping around a lot but I'm trying to sort so much out. Again thanks for any help

I suggest going to a site like cyberpowerpc.com they offer decent amount of customization while not charging you TOO much.

What parts would you recommend/ There are all these casing options processors, cooling, graphics cards, etc. What would be a build you'd recommend for that price? Around 1100 give or take a few hundred. Oh and what about the intel i5 deal I was offered would that cpu work for what I want? 800 is pretty cheap so I'm wary it simply won't do what i need it to.

Based on your cryberpower recommendation I wound up here with a bevy of customization options. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/CyberPower_Black_Pearl

The standard being sold is like this
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3820 Quad-Core 3.60 GHz 10MB Intel Smart Cache LGA2011 (All Venom OC Certified)
HDD 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Drive)
MEMORY: 8GB (2GBx4) DDR3/1600MHz Quad Channel Memory (Corsair or Major Brand)
MOTHERBOARD (3-Way SLI Support) ASRock X79 Extreme 4 Intel X79 Chipset Quad Channel DDR3 ATX w/ UEFI bios, XFast LAN, Charger, & USB Technology, 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, USB3.0, SATA-III RAID, 3 Gen3 PCIe X16, 2 PCIe X1 & 2 PCI
SOUNd HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
VIDEO: AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB 16X PCIe Video Card (Major Brand Powered by AMD)
For 1200
That seems like it will definitely perform for me but is it missing anything important or am I being shortchanged in any one particular area like motherboard, sound, cooling unit?

At $1200 it's more expensive than the intel i5 deal i was offered but it also seems significantly better in everything so I wouldn't mind taking the much better overall PC because the final cost is still under 1400.
