Gaming on PC?

I was wondering if anyone feel similar to me when it come to PC gaming?

Basically I can't game on PC for a good while. I get too distracted with the internet, looking at sport forums, gaming forums, adult contents, gamefaq, music, Youtube, monitoring program, etc...

On the other hand, when I game on console there is literally no distraction and I can play for hours on end.

Does anyone feel like this?

Your inability to concentrate is somehow a reflection on the PC?

I have that issue on any gaming medium. Too many distractions these days. A game has to pretty much command my attention.

Are you lost? I don't think you're going to find many people who agree with you in a PC gaming section.

I do find myself getting distracted but never during a game. Usually it's before I start. I'll check e-mail or check out an article and all of a sudden just lost 1/2 hour of gaming time, oops.

Take your PC and set it to boot Steam into big screen mode. Uninstall anything not needed for gaming. Get a laptop to use for everything but gaming and your desktop only for gaming.

You're welcome.

I don't have that problem at all, and I have ADD. In fact, I find that my ADD takes a backseat when I'm playing games (Windows or console). When I'm at work I'm just like what you described, couldn't concentrate on anything for longer than a few minutes at a time.

My PC is in an office. The only reason I go to that office is to game. The internet only distracts me on my laptop which I only use in other parts of the house. So that's a long way of saying no. Also, I'm answering this from my laptop.

I run my games full-screen not in a window. So no tabbing around and switching to other stuff.

And If I'm not interested enough in a game to want to focus on it then I don't play it at all.

When I'm gaming it's focus time. Sometimes I go hours and hours. The only time this changes is when I have to look something up in a guide because I'm particularly stumped or stuck.

Or just learn to focus OP.........there I saved you some money.

You are welcome. 😀

I only have that problem if I'm not that into a game. In that case I probably should just turn it off and try to pick it up later or abandon it for a better game anyway.

There is no difference between PC and consoles in this respect. I usually have a smartphone or tablet sitting next to me if I decide I want to be distracted from the game anyway.

The rule of thumb for me is to not play games I can't get into sufficiently for them to command my attention. It IS possible for a game to do that. I've put who knows how many hours into The Witcher 3 since it came out. During none of that time was I tempted to randomly engage in some other form of entertainment. Life is too short to force myself to play games that my mind is clearly attempting to direct me away from, so I won't do it.

I find the repulsive graphics on a Console distracting and unplayable. Once you go 1440p (Gsync) @60fps+ on multiple monitors... there is no going back to that garbage. 30 fps or less ... uughh...

I cant play my favorite RTS's like Empire at War... Pillars of Eternity. Should I go on?

You can't play uncharted, halo, forza, gears of war, God of war, Mario, Zelda etc etc

So yeah take your argument elsewhere cause it works both ways.

I don't understand this ridiculous attitude some people have. Stop being stuck up, it's about the games and there are loads of games that are exclusive to consoles that are fantastic. You're either a gamer or you aren't. Who cares what platform someone is using?

Uuh... no. The graphics still SUCK beyond all hell.... no true PC Gamer would lower their standards to such a pathetic level. I wouldnt want to play them in their pixeled glory. When was the last time you played ANY of those games at 1440P... never mind 4K?!? *cricket*..... *cricket*

Consoles dumb down gaming standards. There is a new goldage of PC Gaming coming that will dwarf the pixeled standards of Xbox and PS.

Consoles are fine for 8 year olds... it is cute to watch them mash their buttons.

Lol true gamer...what a crock of shit. I feel dumber for having to read your post.

It's so manly to click a mouse a billion times too.

I second this. As if graphics make a game. I never even notice half the of the graphics features in a game because it plays such a back seat to gameplay and story for me.

I have played and continue to play across every system there is because I care about individual games. Frankly these days sitting comfortably on my recliner after a long day of work is far more enjoyable then sitting at a desk. But I'm a still a pc gamer because there are great games there as well.

That said I'll take my 75 inch tv over desktop monitors any day of the week. This is one area i feel size wins over getting slightly higher detail.

Obviously you are oblivious to Occulus Rift... android tablet support... HoTAS. Go back to your button mashing... I have important overclocking threads to attend to concerning 4K gameplay

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a game quite a bit more if the artwork or graphics are nice to look at. However, the platform doesn't matter. Like I said either you're a gamer or you aren't and trying to be elitist about your platform is IMO very childish. I think Nintendo is primarily for children but I have no shame saying I enjoy playing Mario games.

ROFL...yeah you're so elite. 🙄

You think Sony isn't working on a VR headset for the PS4 and Microsoft isn't working on a Holographic projection system that will work on their Xbox One? Or that there was a controller for the original Xbox that had a full HOTAS setup with pedals and all for a game called Steel Battalian. That's not unique to the PC world but generally only ultra hardcore Flight Sim nerds care about having that type of setup.

For simple minds... consoles are just fine. I'm not debating that either. I just can't handle the crappy graphics on them.

You're stuck on graphics...I dunno how you can say you enjoy RTS games. If all you care about is graphics you must only play 3 games a year cause I can point out flaws in nearly everything that comes out. That's no way to enjoy gaming at all.
