I am waiting for the new CM Storm Alcor to hit stores.

Looks good. I picked up a CM storm spawn a couple months ago and like it so far. Wish I would have waited for this release though.

I just purchased the G700 and it is fantastic. Mine you it is wireless but you can make it wired. It even comes with all the stuff needed to do so. You dont even need to plug in wireless adapter. I am more then pleased with my purchase.

I have this as well and extremely pleased with it. You may not have a need for the extra buttons now, but it's great for customizing macro's for all your gaming needs. :thumbsup:

currently use a zowie ec2 evo. also have a death adder and my trust old MX518.

looking to get my hands on a cm storm alcor when i can.

would highly recommend anything by zowie. all have great sensors and good feel.

450/1150/2300 are quite wide jumps, but then its also the only jumps that the sensor will do without doing stupid things. All the other mice that offer changes in DPI steps that are much smaller and based on similar sensors are just doing interpolation between these same native jumps anyway, reducing the quality overall. I wish there was one lower than 450 but its just the limitations of the sensors, you can't have any DPI step without compromises that end up impacting on the quality of movement, and that is one of the things Zowie is uncompromising on - sensor accuracy.

Used a Logitech mx518 for a decade and recently moved on to a G400s, basically the same mouse. They are the most perfect mice as far as I am concerned.

The mx518 is nothing like the g400s really. It has a huge amount of angle snapping, the worst I have ever seen. The g400s on the other hand has none at all. They feel totally different to each other, the g400s is a lot more accurate and useable for games.

I have had issues with two seperate Razor's. Next I purchased a Logitech g700 and had issues with it working consistently. I got a corsair vengeance m65 and have been very happy with its performance and ease of use. It doesn't have a bunch of extra buttons though, so if you need that, this may not be a good fit.

Also, don't underestimate or forget that a lot of the performance of your mouse comes from the mouse surface you use. Get a good mousepad to go along with it. I personally use a XTrac Pad Hybrid. It's cloth with plastic infused so it's something of an in between the control of a cloth pad and the glide of a hard pad.

This is very valid and caused issues a few years ago for me as I was using a crappy surface and I ruined a few mice. Its like a fan or power supply inside a gaming computer, you don't realize how important it is until you experience issues because of it.

If you don't 'need' any special features, the only really essential thing to do if a gamer is ensure you have 1000Hz polling and (as stated) a good mousepad.

I had a Logitech G5 up until a couple months ago and it died. I replaced it with a G600, which has been super nice for WoW. If I were to get a mouse for all things not-WoW, I would probably go with the G700/G700s.

If you are more into fps games i'd recommend a mouse that uses the avago/pixart 3310 sensor. Or Logitechs modified version in the G502.

I was looking for a new mouse as well, seems my trusty MX 518 buttons have finally worn out.
All the mice I have seen at stores are smaller, and not a good fit for people that have bigger hands, so it is hard to judge the size/feel of a new mouse going by how it looks.

The g400s is the replacement for the MX 518 and is basically identical which means it is the best mouse ever.

The G402 is quite nice, though, and I would now recommend one over a G400s, except for the few users that regularly go over 4m/s (it switches to the gyro around 2.5m/s, it seems, which is fine for short twitchy movements, but maybe not for longer motions). While it only has more buttons in a cosmetic sense (3 are unreachable, without a full palm grip), going back to grippy sides alone makes it better than the G400 mice. The grip isn't identical, but close, I'm getting used to it, and it loves my cloth pad (Allsop). I just wish they gave more usable buttons, like the MX518, G400, or even G502 (but without the weights, wide thumb lip, higher back, and bad scroll wheel--IBM made a mouse with a 4-way or 5-way stick many years ago, and it was very nice to use, unlike tilt wheels).

I've had bad luck with Razer,fist one I had was a diamondback and the sensor died,second one was a Deathadder and left mouse click went the way of the dodo,third well you get my point.

Any mouse is a preference thing due to we all have different hand sizes and different ways of using them,personally I got a cheap gaming mouse of ebay and its still going strong ,out lasted all my Razer mice.

Yeah my Razer mice almost all die after a while. I actually just had a death adder make it to needing new feet. I bought a new one instead of spending 10 bucks on feet. Love the Death Adder and probably won't use anything else.

Like others have already said: Logitech G400.

I've had some of their higher end laser mice and have actually been dissapointed with how long they last. Went back to the optical G400 and haven't looked back.

Use a Das Keyboard Brown as my keyboard (I type a lot too, prefer the browns).

I've been using a G700 for a couple years. I've been very happy with it. The battery life sucks, and I suppose it could use slightly better clicking on a couple buttons, but I like the layout and feel a lot.

I have used MX518's for years and went through 2 of them. After the last one died I decided to give Razer a chance and got a Naga which I am in love with. If it goes out, I plan to get another one,.. got to used to having the all the options at my thumb for fast inventory items in games.
